Folding with dual, but different GPUs

Post by kmf »

Are there any problems folding with two different NVIDIA GPU's installed on the same motherboard as long as the SLI bridge is not installed? Specifically I was considering adding a GeForce 590 to a machine that is currently running a 560.

FAH does not use SLI, so I don't think it should matter whether it is installed or not. You have to run two independent V6 clients in different directories, each one of which is assigned to a specific GPU and a unique MachineID. You really do need to follow the install guide where you'll find more information.

There are difficulties when running with mixed types of GPUs such as one AMD and one NVidia or one Fermi and one non-Fermi, but from FAH's perspective, two GeForce 5xx GPUs would be treated the same way.

Hi
I do have 2 different Nvidia cards in my machine (gf 9600 gt and gf 560 ti). I dont have any problem with having 3 folding (SMP and 2 GPU folding). I started with this setup before v7 was ready so I did find http://fahtracker.com/ that is an point and click manager. It can manage op to 7 GPU (tested with 2) and a SMP or single thread fold

I think when (maybe already happen) v7 is ready it can be used instead.

I hope that helps and good luck with folding
