Yep Thanks very much PantherX I believe that to be the one I thought was missing although it was finished @ 13.06 it didn't turn up on the 14.00 update, yet turned up on both Fah & EOC 37 mins ago @ the 15.00 hr update. For the life of me I can't figure out why a WU completed @ 13.06 doesn't show up on the FAH Stats page until almost 2 hrs later especially knowing the FAH page is updated on the hour every hour

Concerned, not septic. Mods are a shared, scarce, and volunteer resource. Also because I'd like to be able to use them to help me figure out a problem when I have a serious problem, as does everyone else. And even you said that you thought the last WU was the missing WU, so you knew you probably hadn't waited long enough. So yes, PantherX was very gracious even though he probably knew the same thing. Let's ask gracious and helpful PantherX... What is the recommended amount of time, after a WU is uploaded, that people should wait before becoming concerned about missing points, and posting a request to the Mods for help?

Let's not get started arguing over whether to call it septic or concerned.

The fact is, your Mods are all volunteers. We spend our time helping out because we believe in the goals of FAH and we want to help. Unnecessary time spent checking on points that are just delayed an hour to two is an imposition. Sometimes we're happy to waste our time answering unnecessary requests like this one -- sometimes not. We all have our private lives to live, too, so 7im does have a point. It's also fine that PantherX had the time and was willing to do it. That's his decision to make. I do it too, sometimes -- or not -- depending not only on the conditions in my personal life but also on how long it probably has been.

Why do we answer any questions about possibly missing credits? Simple: We're trying to help. If someone has somehow configured their system incorrectly and that can be fixed, we want to identify that problem and to help you fix it as promptly as possible. If there is a systematic issue where a server has a problem, we want to identify that issue and to be sure Stanford knows about it so they can do something about it promptly -- hopefully before thousands of people all experience the same problem.

Moreover, nobody can guarantee that every single WU will be credited perfectly. Once in a while something will happen and the WU or the credit for it will be lost. The reliability of the points system is VERY GOOD, but like anything, it's not perfect and if one WU had been lost, there's nothing we would have been able to do about it.

7im's suggestion that you wait 3-4 hours before getting concerned is a good one. The Stanford official stats generally show a credit in 1-2 hours, but sometimes it does take longer. Most people seem to depend on one of the 3rd party stats sites rather than on the official Stanford stats, so there is an additional delay of an hour or two for them to obtain the flat file from the official site and process it.

Why did I say this would be wasting our time answering an unnecessary request? Mostly because it turned out that no points had been lost. Clearly, *hondo* was impatient. If he had been more patient, the issue would have resolved itself without anybody doing anything.

And had he have been more patient the log file would have been deleted with no trace of which WU Stanford was waiting for. I too have been a Mod & at no time would I have complained about a poster needing help, even if the question had been answered a 1000 times previously. It looks to me like here you're damned if you do, & damned if you don't.

Log files have to get over 50K to be renamed to FahLog-Prev and client needs to be restarted. That would have to happen twice before it was deleted.

Even if that had happened, Stanford wouldn't really care which WU was being waited for. If there had been one missing, there's nothing anyone can do about it. The servers automatically manage the reassignment of WUs if they do happen to get lost.
