Re: 130.237.232.237
Several people on my team are having issues with this server as I write this (viewed this thread to see if there was a resolution)...I have linked to this thread encouraging those with issues to post their log files, etc.
Re: 130.237.232.237
Hi tear, tear wrote:Care to comment on the other machine that gets short HTTP responses? I'd appreciate that a lot.
If by 'short HTTP responces' you are refering to this:
[18:33:24] Initial: 0000; - Receiving payload (expected size: 512)
This has been attributed to server issues, specifically jobs without corresponding work unit files. SOURCE
This has been an ongoing issue with 130.237.232.141
Hopefully it's not too contagious...
I think it's very likely the server borked the 'small' 6903 as well.
Not likely. Proxies do not 'connect' to servers on their own, they're simply the messenger.bruce wrote:Note this clause of the EULA:In one sense, I'd say that that clause prohibits a proxy .... . . You may only use unmodified versions of Folding@home obtained through authorized distributors to connect to the Folding@Home servers. Use of other software to connect to the Folding@home servers is strictly prohibited. . . .
Traceroute shows 21 hops from my bigadv folders to 130.237.232.237 - each of those is a proxy acting on my behalf.
I cannot receive/return work without them.
Without proxies there is no Internet.

Amaruk,
I believe this is the same issue you indicated to tear, can you confirm
and later...
Approx 8 hrs later it got a 6900 and is chewing away...
I believe this is the same issue you indicated to tear, can you confirm

Re: 130.237.232.237
Hi Jagaer,
Yes it is. This line from your log:
[03:30:24] Initial: 0000; - Receiving payload (expected size: 512)
indicates the size of the wudata_xx.dat file (in bytes) for the WU being downloaded.
DrSpalding was kind enough to confirm this in the 130.237.232.141 thread.
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=20015&start=90#p201815
The wudata_xx.dat file should be around 24,000,000 bytes for 6900/01, and 57,000,000 for 6903/04.

Kill it and rename (or remove) machinedependent.dat (make sure you don't have
unsent units in queue before you do that tho).
It did help me. Must have been a server b0rk.

Re: 130.237.232.237
In Linux, what app do I use to open the queue.dat (is that the right file?) file to check for unsent work units?Kill it and rename (or remove) machinedependent.dat (make sure you don't have
unsent units in queue before you do that tho).
Re: 130.237.232.237
The v6 client does that, provided you use the -queueinfo flag -- it will report the contents of queue.dat. For the V7 client, that information is always visible in the Status tab.

Re: 130.237.232.237
Another option (for those that wish to check v6 without stopping the client) is checking for wuresults_xx.dat files in the client's work folder.
The client recognizes this, dumps the files and requests new work.
The problem is the server does not yet realize that the WU is bad.
By default it considers the WU to be 'lost' and will continue to issue it. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Often the only way to break free of this cycle is for the client to tell the server it is a different folder, even though it really isn't.
Stanford identifies each client by a CPUID, which is a combination of UserID and MachineID. SOURCE
UserID is provided by Stanford, MachineID is configured by the client.
Changing either of these will result in a new CPUID.
Linux stores this UserID as machinedependent.dat - Many Linux users simply delete that file instead of changing the MachineID through -configonly because it's quicker.
And please don't forget to follow tear's advice re checking for unsent work before you delete it.
In this particular case the server is passing incomplete/corrupt files to the client for processing.Jagaer wrote:Wonder what your machine identifier has to do with being able to receive a WU?

As far as I've been able to tell, this problem no longer exists in V7. Has anybody running V7 found a need to perform this procedure?Amaruk wrote:Often the only way to break free of this cycle is for the client to tell the server it is a different folder, even though it really isn't.

Regarding checking for unsent work units:
So, is this the command you refer to?
cd fah
./fah6 -queueinfo
Keep in mind, I'm a dolt with respect to Linux. The v6 client does that, provided you use the -queueinfo flag

Re: 130.237.232.237
This server still has issues with uploading completed WUs, and downloading new ones. Been as such for 2 days straight on my 4p rig, even manual uploads (for 2 completed WUs) using the -send x flag does not work - using both normal and alternate sites. I manually changed the Machine ID to 2, to no avail. Still stuck at 'loaded queue successfully', after being assigned to 130.237.232.237.
edit: obviously, after typing this and with the machine running overnight, it finally decided to download a WU (6903) and get to work. It took 14 hours... and I still don't know if the upload will work.
