is it worth folding with...

Post by tgr »

Evening/afternoon/morning all

Ive been offered a load of servers at prices so cheap i should ebay them! But however theres some servers in here that are multi cpus and im told dual core so would be worth keeping and folding with them, the list is below, what i want to know is what points could i expect and what client,os etc etc to run them on.

Netra T12/V1280-can not find much about it

Sun fire V125-single core-usless?

Sun Fire V490-http://www.e-business.com/sun/pdf-sun/v490.pdf

sun Enterprise 420R-http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19088-01/420 ... 078-10.pdf

sun enterprise 250R-http://www.e250.net/

sun fire V440-http://www.spectra.com/pdfs/sunfirev440.pdf

sun fire v445-http://www.e-business.com/sun/pdf-sun/v445.pdf

I dont know full spec of them yet just going by what google says,

If they are going to fail at folding would they be worth video rendering with or due to the similer points of rendering and folding they will fail at that too?

Thanks guys

No idea about the Netra, not a name I am familiar with. But the Sun's look to all be UltraSPARC based servers, I don't think there is any way to run folding on them. Once upon a time I might have been interested in one of the smaller units as a hobbyist machine, but I have gotten away from using Sun as of years ago. Since some of these date to 10-12 years ago you might find some interested buyers on ebay.
