Project: 7621 (Run 811, Clone 0, Gen 85)

Post by hiigaran »

i dont know what to say about this, really. i just get an unstable machine EUE. its happened twice where i can confirm it was this work unit, but ive had many EUEs before. any other info needed? temperatures are fine, ive downclocked multiple times, nothing on my part is helping. GTX 590, GPU client.

Usually, you can also post the relevant section of the FAHlog showing the error. When you say "many EUEs" do you mean:
1) The same WU give you an EUE? If so, please read this (viewtopic.php?p=164322#p164322)
2) Different WUs giving you EUEs? If so, please read this (viewtopic.php?p=164320#p164320)

There isn't any data in the WU Database yet so I have marked it for a follow-up.

yeah its the first one, from the recent ones (i dont have the logs of the others anymore as they were overwritten), but ill try out that deleting method. ive come across other methods similar, without the machine ID change, so i have already tried deleting everything else multiple times, and still getting the exact same WU, but ill see what happens this time around. im up to 40% on this work unit again, so ill see what happens.

okay, unstable machine at 59%. followed the delete procedure in your link, changed machine ID as well. i downloaded the same work unit. im stopping this client until further notice, and i sure as hell hope my other client doesnt get this unit.

If all your EUEs are Project: 7621 (Run 811, Clone 0, Gen 85) there's no way to know if it's a problem with that WU or with your hardware.

The deadlines are 12.60 days and 17.90 days. The WU will be reassigned to someone else 12.6 days after it was first assigned to you. Some time after then, they may successfully complete it, strongly suggesting that you have a hardware problem. Similarly, if your hardware successfully completes other projects that are closely related to Project 7820, that strongly suggests it a problem with the WU, not the hardware. Without additional information, there's nothing to indicate one or the other.

how similar would the work units have to be?

also, my other first GPU client is having no problems, so probably when it finishes its work unit, im going to try to swap the GPU flags again. if the second client then shows no problems while the first one does, then that will prove its a hardware issue, but if its still just P7621 that is problematic, then i think you will have your answer.

obviously im hoping its just a bad work unit, though ive never had issues before, and relatively speaking, the card hasnt been pushed anywhere near its hardest.

That's strange as you're the first person reporting that the procedure didn't work (assuming that you followed it exactly).

i just read through the post again, just in case i did it incorrectly, but ive followed it exactly as it was written.

oh and what a lovely coincidence! just as i was typing this, i got the unstable machine problem again after 10%. this was with the GPU flags swapped, like i mentioned in my other post. so now i that i know its not my GPU, i am all but convinced it is a bad work unit. at least, theres no other explanation for it.

Hi All,

In case the WU is at fault, I have manually shut down p7621 (811, 0, 85). It should not be reassigned. Sorry for any trouble this may have caused hilgaran - let us know if the next WU you get works out OK!
