For 3%?.... nah.... not worth it.
I only reported it just in case there are issues with that WU.

toTOW, Merci for the thought.

These 3xxx WUs are really showing to be unstable.
Over the last few days I have had a few doing EUE, including this one:

How long does it sit there? (Unfortunately there is no time-stamp on the shutdown lines).

While it's sitting there, which FAH tasks are running, and are they using CPU time?

As I would expect, Project: 3065, Run 3, Clone 183, Gen 1 has not been returned by anyone yet.

Are you overclocking? Is your machine stable when tested with stressCPU?

Bruce;
it stayed there for over 10 minutes before I manually shut it down.
CPU was running but not at high, next time I will get a reading.... the reason I know is because the fans were running at low.
Yes I am OC'ed, have been since July '07.... and never had issues like this before, until 3xxx started coming down the pipes.
The only issues I have had before were a few 0x12 and one or two 0x7b and 0x0 and 0x1 .... but those were far few and in between.

I just had another 3065 do the same, since it is a different Gen, I will post a new thread on it.

Peace

Edit by Mod:
Three threads merged. They're all p3065 and they're all from your machine so let's look for the similarities that (apparently) have nothing to do with the specific run, clone, gen.

Please run stressCPU and back off your overclocking. We may be able to associate the problem with the two things that seem to be in common: your hardware and/or the project as opposed to the specific Run/Clone/Gen.

We'll still have to wait until someone else completes those WUs to be sure.

Thanx for the quick response bruce.
I have run StressCPU and OCCT and passed both.
However, I will run both of them again, and report. I will also lower the level of OC and observe the results. Thanx neighbor!

StressCPU v2.0 does not correlate exactly with how the SMP client performs. In the past, a passing grade from StressCPU was an almost guaranteed bet the CPU client would also run without problems. However, with the SMP client, a passing score at the high end of the overclock spectrum does not guarantee the SMP client will run without errors. You may need to back off the clocks by 10-15% (or slightly more) to find a stable speed for running the SMP client. However, StressCPU does let you dial in that top speed more quickly and accurately than other CPU stressor programs because it uses Gromacs code similar to what's used in the FAH clients.

FAH SMP is also very sensible to the memory and chipset/motherboard issues ...

Here are the tests I'm using to validate my overclocks :

StressCPU v2 : pushes SSE and FPU units at their maximums.
CPU Stress MT : it adds some basic memory stress, and pushes CPU and caches to their maximums.
Orthos Large and/or Blend : will stress memory and caches.

When all these tests passed (at least one hour per software), I run FAH SMP ... (and sometimes, it fails anyway :()
If I'm not willing to wait three hours, I'm only testing each software for 15 minutes ... it's definitively not the best, but it often works. Also, remember that your have to wait to reach the permanent state of your cooling system (the transitional state must be excluded from the test times).

I've also heard good things here about the MS (surprise) Memory diagnostic: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp . Never had the need to try it though.

Also having 3065 problems.
I have had this unit lock up at 10% complete (locked up computer) and at 40% the program stopped itself, but the work window remained open and the computer ran just fine.....very strange. The log shows only 2 prior shutdowns, but the message on my most recent resume say 8 prior improper shutdowns.

I occasionally ctrl-c out of the SMP when playing games, so any improper shutdowns you see in the log prior to the 3065 10% lockup and 40% self-termination were done by me manually.

Haven't had a lockup in months @ a dozen workups at this O/C level. If it freezes again I will try with no O/C again.

Will also try the stressCPU program - I usually run Prime95 x4 for @ 6 hrs on short ffts and then 12 hours Blend (thats after 2-3 passes of Memtest)

Haven't touched my O/C since January.

Also - just out of curiosity, how do you shut down mid-w/u without getting an improper termination message when you restart? ctrl-c usually gives improper termination message to me.

Code: Select all

The 5.91 client that you're running is sensitive to network changes. You did not mention how you connect to the net but if its wireless, chances are a momentary signal loss caused the SMP hang at 40%. The hard lockup at 10%, I'm guessing (make that Guessing) an OC instability or high temps that caused the system to freeze.
craigmdq6700 wrote:The log shows only 2 prior shutdowns, but the message on my most recent resume say 8 prior improper shutdowns.
This is a known cosmetic bug. Its an attention seeker, nothing like saying "OMG! Look what you did!" If you want to remove the message, use the -forceasm switch (in addition to the -oneunit that you use).
craigmdq6700 wrote:Haven't had a lockup in months @ a dozen workups at this O/C level. If it freezes again I will try with no O/C again.
Yes, this might be a good idea iif you get a freeze again. AFAIK, 3062s are a little bit more demanding than the now scarce 2653s (I maybe wrong here, I couldnt find a topic with proof for this statement) and even the slightest of instabilities can make the client beg for a belly rub.
craigmdq6700 wrote:Also - just out of curiosity, how do you shut down mid-w/u without getting an improper termination message when you restart? ctrl-c usually gives improper termination message to me.
-forceasm

PS. And when you post FAHLog contents, select the contents you just pasted and hit the code button at the top of the Create/Edit post text box. It makes it into a nice and compact view :)

I ran all the tests again, and every one passed. StressCPU & OCCT
I also downclocked the CPU.

It runs fine with all 3xxx WUs to date except for any 3065
I just finished a 3064 and then the client downloaded a 3065 (After a few unsuccessful attempts of course)
The client started the 3065 (2,202,2) and EUE'ed at 1-2 % .... Three times total.
It is now happily Crunching a 3064 and has gone passed 3%

Looks like 3065 just does not want to play well with my Beast ;)

Peace
