After I restart everything is OK.

Same thing. Switched one machine to v7 last night. Just now deleted queue.dat and ./work (rm -rf work) and restarted. Got a 6099, 16 cores busy again.

Did you open any of the work files with another application or does FAHClient have exclusive use of those files? That includes things like a virus scan that might have been running or some 3rd party viewer.

It only happened (twice) when I had a bigadv following a p7000 series.
I have never seen this otherwise.

I know the Pande Group is aware of difficulties with this server and can see that they have been working on it recently. I have no information on how they're progressing.

If you do report a similar problem, I'd really appreciate knowing when the problem occurred (Date, time, including the timezone). Otherwise it's not easy to tell if progress has been made.

Maybe it's related to the server problems that have been reported here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=19949

and here http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=19972 in the v6 forum.

The server seems to be giving out 512B worth of work, not complete work units (either that or the client is interpreting an 'out of work' message as a WU)

In all cases, the FILE_IO_ERROR stops when the assignment server changed from 130.237.232.141 to another, in my case, it looks like 128.143.199.97 most of the time.

Things SEEM to be back to normal. I picked up a p6900 this morning at about 4am without incident, the first in about a week. The prior non-bigadv WU ended, the client downloaded normally a p6900, the client then downloaded a new copy of core a5 (I had dumped the core along with the queue, log, work files when I was trying to stop the spate of "FILE_IO_ERROR"s I reported above.)

The core is now crunching along completely normally on the p6900.

Things SEEM to be back to normal....
Good job to the PL professionals, getting it cleared up.

This issue is still not resolved. I'm continually having to monitor my -bigadv rig because of the insistance of going to this server (130.237.232.141), grabbing a 6900, then the FILE_IO issue repeatedly. I've had to resort to removing the -bigadv flag which is the first time I've ever had to do this... Let's get these work unit(s) or server(s) fixed so we can all get back to business.
