Project7808

Post by chaz4170 »

Don't know if this is a typical WU problem or not, but I thought it would be polite to let Someone know. I had a complete failure of the computer I was running F@h on and currently P7808 (run0 is all I can remember aside from project number) is looking like a complete loss, will know more later today.

Welcome to the foldingforum.org, chaz4170.

Is your User Name for FAH chaz4170 or is it something else?

You can probably find more information about the WU and possibly about the crash by finding the log file. Assuming you're running FAH V6.xx, that data can be found in a file called FahLog.txt. (Assuming you're running WIndows) the shortcut that starts FAH will have a property "Start in" which should point to the location of FAH's working files, including that log.

It's really unlikely that FAH caused your system to crash, but with the above data, we may be able to learn something.

Apologies, I wasn't clear on what I meant. No I don't think F@H caused the crash either. Just wasn't sure if it was possible to adjust the server to reassign or if it had to wait out till the deadline since it was pretty early on in the process of that WU... Just heard back from the tech, it was some kind of "mechanical failure" in the hard drive (his words) he's now working to see what, if anything can be saved from it, far as data goes. Hopefully, something, if not, well dang it.
Oh, and no, I upload/download anonymously, my user name is just for this forum.

Thanks for the thought, but the Pande Group does not manually reissue WUs. The system will do that automatically after the Preferred Deadline expires so we can't really use this type of report.
