Any way to recover a passkey?

Post by sh4rkbyt3 »

I somehow lost my passkey from FAH but I do have another system which has the passkey logged into it. The only problem is the passkey isn't shown for security purposes. Can I recover that passkey off my other machine without having to apply for a new passkey?

Mod Edit: Changed "password" to "passkey" - PantherX

Ah the passkey should be in cleartext then. I'm running v6 though, so if your running v7 it may be different. But it doesn't matter; I found this on the Passkey FAQ: "Q) What do I do if I forgot or lost my passkey? A) Go to the passkey web page and fill in the same information as before. You will get another email with your same passkey. Note: If your original email address is no longer accesible, you will need to enter a new email address, and you will be sent a new and different passkey."

And the website to get a passkey is here: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

LOL I'm glad it worked out for you. Hey well then let me say that our team just busted into the top 1000 with almost 6,400,000 points! I'm sitting on like 600,000... Oh well. I have no intention of shutting down anytime soon, so eventually I'll get there. Congratulations on the accomplishment!

sh4rkbyt3 hoooo haha!

Just as a side note, if you get a new passkey using your old email account, you'll get your old passkey...

If we're talking about the V7 client, the passkey is obscured in the log so people don't inadvertently post it in the forum. However, you can view the passkey if you open the config.xml file.

Good job on breaking the top 1,000 barrier Jesse. I believe we're (moddersinc) in the 700's range and steadily moving. As is usual, a lot of people initially signed on but few have done much lately if anything at all.

And thanks for the info ChelseaOilman, that is good to know :)!
