could not download core [P7600 error on OS/X]

Post by dzjnky »

Just started getting this error - figured I should report it here...

[21:23:20] + Downloading new core: FahCore_a4.exe
[21:23:20] Downloading core (/~pande/OSX/x86/Core_a4.fah from http://www.stanford.edu)
[21:23:21] - Error: HTTP GET returned error code 404
[21:23:21] + Error: Could not download core

Thanks

Can you post the full log? It looks as if you got assigned to a server & project that wasn't set up properly for your machine.

As my machine is running OS X, my understanding is that core a4 is not yet available for that OS and I should not have been given a download of Project: 7600 (Run 42, Clone 5, Gen 0). The end of the log snippet includes a run with -queueinfo to get the project info.

Sorry about this. P7600 is not currently compatible with OSX, but was still assigning to OSX clients. The problem should be fixed now. I recommend you dump that unit if you haven't already.

Thanks for keeping us updated!

Already dumped the 7600 WU and got a download from Project 6068.

It looks like multi-processor clients are also being mis-assigned the uni-processor a4 core to run Project 7610. More info at viewtopic.php?f=19&t=18903&p=189052

The A4 core is supposed to be either uniprocessor or multiprocessor capable, so that's not the problem, though assignments also depend on whether you have a V6 or V7 client.

Also, P7600 is supposed to run correctly on OS-X.

See viewtopic.php?f=24&t=14714#p188937 and the topics linked in it. I'll let tjlane know that (apparently) early beta testing was insufficient and new problems are being discovered in "advmethods" beta testing.

There is no a4 core available yet for OS X, so the listing of 7600 as being able to run on OS X was premature. It looks like tjlane has updated the announcements for 7600 and 7610 since you posted. Hopefully there will be a beta of the a4 core for OS X at some point soon, but I expect that may be linked to progress on releasing v7 for OS X.

P.S. By beta I mean an open-beta of the core and v7 client for OS X.

Joe_H is correct, the A4 core is compatible with the v7 client for OSX. Since we used the v7 client for internal testing, this didn't get caught until it got released to a larger audience. Sorry about that!
