Possibly unusual activity on account

Post by DragonLord »

I think I'm seeing some unusual activity on my account. It seems as if my score is increasing during a time where I have not turned in any units, and the stats page indicates that there were two clients in the last seven days, instead of the expected one. Can anyone tell me what's happening and post a log of recent WUs returned, if possible? Is there an actual problem or is it just me?

I am currently folding one SMP slot with three threads and one GPU slot on Folding@home client 7.1.24.

I don't understand... SMP = 1 client, GPU = 1 client, 1+1 = 2 clients. Were both clients running all week or not?

Previously, however, the system appeared to handle both slots as being from one client. Both slots were running continuously.

That may be true. V7 handles client counts differently than v6. Not sure that is sorted out yet. Anyway...

What are the PRCG numbers from the last work unit completed by the GPU? by SMP? It will help them track this down.

Hi Dragon250 (team 0),
Your WU (P5737 R0 C591 G386) was added to the stats database on 2011-05-23 06:05:10 for 511 points of credit.
Hi Dragon250 (team 0),
Your WU (P6068 R0 C149 G267) was added to the stats database on 2011-05-23 13:07:12 for 481 points of credit.

You did get credit for both of them, which isn't the question you asked, but is part of the research process.

According to the stats, you have 3 clients(slots) that have returned WUs recently. All are on Windows with an Athlon processor.
One has not returned a result since 2011-05-04 09:05:56 and that was P6883 R716 C5 G82 so we can probably forget about that one as it's no longer active.

The other two clients(slots) are on the same Machine. I don't see a problem.

Have you actively added/removed/re-added slots?

Yes, slots were recently changed. The last time this was done, a uniprocessor slot was removed and the SMP slot was set from 2 to 3 threads. P6883 is a uniprocessor project.

Make no changes to the clients or slots that you're running. Wait at least 7 days.. Visit your official stats and see if you believe the value shown for Active clients (within 7 days).

That's what a passkey is for. You can search the stats by username and passkey to filter your points. ;)

I do hope that the stats will return back to normal. However if someone else is folding under your username, then there's nothing that can be done... Sorry. However, as long as you use the passkey, it shouldn't be any issues with your points.

I've noticed that there is a mismatch between the scores with and without the passkey. However, since I started Folding@home without a passkey and the points difference is small, there does not appear to be any other person using this username. I'll continue to monitor the stats page for any problems.

Edit: I just searched the user summary and did not find more than one instance of the username Dragon250, which would have occured had there been multiple passkeys in use (see this Folding@home blog post).
