How does this sound?

My rig setup is as follows:

AMD Phenom II 1090T x6 - OC @ 4.4Ghz
16GB DDR3 1600Mhz - OC @ 1760mhz
2 ATI Radeon HD 6850's - OC @ 800/1050mhz

I currently run the basic x86 client to use 100% and overall I see a CPU usage of 17% which I am assuming is because its only using 1 of my 6 cores.
So far it shows my deadline to finish this WU as 21 days and it's taken me about 5 hours to get 241/250 so I assume all is well.
I see no slowdowns or performance issues when doing intensive tasks (hardcore gaming) so I figure if I just leave it be... and let F@H have one of my cores to play with forever all will be well.

I am getting a secondary rig soon to turn into a Folding monster and I will definitely need help with getting that going balls to the wall.

I see no reason why you'd get any slow downs at all (even while gaming) unless you started to get up around running on 4 or more cores (either using SMP or multiple uni proc clients). Even running on all six cores you'd possibly get very little if any slow down while gaming as their priority is set a lot lower... But that said, it's about what you feel comfortable with and contributing is the main thing

How frequently do you game? If you don't game all hours of the day I'd suggest experimenting with running the SMP client on all cores and seeing how it goes

I wish I could game all hours of the day, though between college, work and my full-time girlfriend (if you get my drift) I only get a few hours a day at best.

I have been considering trying the SMP, is there a good reliable SMP version for 64bit Windows 7? I don't want to run anything on my GPUs as I have them rendering video all the time anyways.

I tried the 32/64 bit V6 beta and it has the exact same effect. 17% even with the -smp switch.

After you specify the -smp flag, you have to restart the Client and then wait for it to finish the current work. Once it finishes it, it will hopefully download the SMP work and your CPU Usage will be 100%. If you are unsure, please post the FAHlog (viewtopic.php?p=160884#p160884) so we can have a better idea of what is going on.

I got it working, thanks! I will see what happens if keep this running 100% while gaming and if it doesn't cause any type of issue ill leave it rolling hard all day and all night!

Just a note to the wise. When first starting out an intensive, all cores SMP with an overclocked system running 24/7, keep your eye out periodically for CPU core temps. If the system is nice and stable, your CPU/case cooling systems will keep everything on an even keel. With summer approaching, your ambient room temps may affect your internal temps too. You may want or need to tweak your fan profiles in your BIOS.

You don't want to cook your system.

Grey, I have monitoring software and safety shutoffs in place to keep temp under control. So far under constant 100% load I have not seen my 1090T above 38c but I do have liquid cooling so that is probably why.
