Re: Stats appear to have frozen up during update
@-alias- and @shunter - Yes, points have been lost due to server issues, but in those cases it's the WORK server and not the point list generating process that was causing issues. In both of the cases in the last few months that the Stats service needed to be fixed, NO ONE reported missing points or WUs, that I am aware of, that were the direct result of the .txt file not being generated.
Please don't mistake one issue for the other.

Re: Stats appear to have frozen up during update
The Donor Stats page is still showing "update in Progress" with the same message that I posted in the original post.

Re: Stats appear to have frozen up during update
Looks like everything is back on its normal schedule now. Stats should be available.

Re: Stats appear to have frozen up during update
The machine that runs the stats update went down and had to be restarted. But it went down at a pretty safe stage of the stats update, so everything looks good. We are transitioning to new hardware and will hopefully transition this one soon (it's the last to transition since it's the most complex and easiest to break key features -- i.e. stats -- if the transition is done without good planning and execution).

Everything's looking awesome from here. Thanks for keeping us in the loop! As always, it's a pleasure to be part of the project!

Pleased to say that my units have all been credited and points look ok.shunter wrote:'Fraid Not. Points have been lost in the past when stats servers have gone down. In theory they should not be lost but in practice some do and cannot be recovered. Science is the goal but points make it more competitive and so F@H wins. Without the team challenge and their help I would not be where I am nowhuyetma wrote:no worries, this has happened in the past and all points were restored properly.
Thanks for sorting it out.

A special note to all those who were predicting a major loss of points: Your doomsday preditions were overly pessimistic.

Re: Stats appear to have frozen up during update
Could you elaborate on what seems slow? The time the site is down while stats are being input or the accessing of the stats themselves (on fah-web.stanford.edu)?

PS I see the fah-web pages are slow. We're getting a lot of extra traffic right now, likely due to the fb integration.
