So, when do you plan to get this and write it off as a business expense?

Last I read doesnt FAH/Gromacs have issues scaling that high? (the 48-cores thread)
U'd better have another DC project (or two) to pick up the rest of the slack.
Personally unless ur using the rig for something else like business I dont see the point in a setup like this other than for geek pr0n - just donate what u can spare, Salvation Army style - otherwise it's kinda obsessive and weird.

Obsessive and weird? Have you been talking to my wife about me?
Besides, you could run 64 Farmville games at the same time!
No, a machine like that is for those who need to save money by taking 20 older servers and replacing them with 1 machine.
Or for someone who needs to burn money by having a desktop 20 times more powerful than necessary.

Re: Too Mucho!!
yea but only HW I ever bought for folding was 2 Nvidia cards (9800 GTX+, 9600GT) - and that was a mistake that I regret.
Both cards failed and had to be replaced (MSI 9600 multiple times), altho they are working fine now for past year I must admit
Stanford "emphasizes" Nvidia heavily and I fell into that trap... ah to be young and naive again.

Personally, I'm waiting for the 5086B-TRF (http://www.supermicro.com/Xeon_mp/) to become availableQinsp wrote:

Imagine... 160 cores (8 sockets with 10 core CPU +HT) running BigAdv WUs
The motherboard has 4 PCIe x16 slots, so you could also add in 4 of the latest nVidia GPUs for "fun"

Re: Too Mucho!!
Don't you need your own power station for that?!
Re: Too Mucho!!
Pretty sure you can only fold when a lightning bolt hits.
