Project 10633 (R90, C8, G48)

Post by Michael_McCord,_M.D. »

This WU keeps appearing after deleting everything, uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting the entire folding@home-gpu file in AppData\Roaming. And gives Unstable machine time after time. This is a failrly new Fermi card (GTX460-768) but had otherwise run flawlessly about a week before this fiasco. Take a look, if you please. Thanks for the help.

All I can tell you is that somebody else completed it successfully some 15.5 hrs ago.
Your WU (P10633 R90 C8 G48) was added to the stats database on 2010-07-23 06:07:21 for 611 points of credit.

It does sound like there's something strange going on in your machine, but I don't have any specific suggestions about what it might be.

Thanks, Bruce. I have uninstalled the client entirely, deleted the Roaming file. Downloaded a new client from the website, installed it, configured it and it comes back with this confounded WU from server171.67.108.31. I did this twice. And restarted the entire machine too. I admit to being flummoxed.

Does it give you the same WU if you try the Console Client instead of the Systray one?

Well, a good idea Panther, and I tried it. However, the console client is only for GPU2 far as I can tell and it loaded a Core_78 WU and was working on that fine. Still futzing with that GPU3 client as I want optimum use of this Fermi.

Actually, there is a Console Version for GPU3 BETA Client and the link is in my Guide (in sig). I would suggest that you read it as it may help you to optimize your rigs. If you come across any further suggestions that you would want in the Guide, tell me and I will happily add it.

As far as I've seen, the smp client will run classic WUs (such as core_78) if you leave off the -smp flag. I've never tried to see what combination of flags will cause the GPU2 or GPU3 client to revert to classic WUs. From your report is it fair to say that since the server can't assign a Fermi WU if you're running the GPU2 client, that it ignores the GPU and runs a classic WU?
