Misconfigured client not getting Points [Resolved]
Good evening!
I had some downtime starting on the 18th. My UPS and backup hard drive went bad, but I was only down for part of the day. I normally average about 12,000 ppd but ever since the 15th my points have been cut in half. I did barely 10k yesterday and am only at 6k now. Anybody else notice anything around that time? Nothing has changed on my system that would effect performance. I don't get it. FAHmon still says 12,075 PPD but I'm not seeing it like I used to before this week. Here's what's running...
Athlon x2 6000 - two clients running one core 78 the other b4 - WinXP
Two GeForce 250 GTS running core 11 - WinXP 257.15 beta drivers
One core 2 duo SMP - 2 -bidavdunits on Ubuntu 9.10
Runs 24/7.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Cheers!

Look for errors, sand ensure all your machines are running the client, and back to the same overclock settings.

Welcome to the Forum BCCHowdy,
I recommend that you check the Official Stats to identify if there are any problems with your credits. Roughly a week ago, there was a problem that effected third party stats (more details).
Your last rig:
"One core 2 duo SMP - 2 -bidavdunits on Ubuntu 9.10"
I believe that you have got the wrong flag, -BigAdv (that's the correct one) can ONLY be used with 8 or more Physical Cores, it will not run with anything less than 8 Cores. I recommend that you remove that flag as it wont do anything to your system. The only CPUs that fit in this category are dual or higher CPUs motherboards and Intel i7-800 Series and i7-900 Series but do note that they actually have 4 Cores with 8 Threads and you may or may not be able to finish the BigAdv units as they are not actual 8 Cores.
Also note that the flag is -smp 2 where you tell the Client to use 2 cores. In your case, you only have dual core so you can also use -smp which tells the Client to use all available Cores.
You could use the -verbosity 9 flag which will make the FAHLog more detailed which will help you in troubleshooting the Client.

Re: Points falling off since the 18th??
Just look at your fahlog files, and figure out which client is slacking off.
Are you still running A3 work unit this week like last week? Similar project numbers?

Re: Points falling off since the 18th??
And if you don't have errors, it might just be the mix of WUs that changed ...
Re: Points falling off since the 18th??
I found it!! The username for GPU2 is _ team 0. So I was submitting all of the points FAHMon said I was they just weren't being assigned to me. I'm happy I found the problem anyway. I re ran the config to reset all the parameters. FAHMon doesn't reflect that yet but hopefully everything will straighten out on the next WU. Thank you all for the fast replies. Panther, on the -bigadv flag... this is the only way I could get the client to grab a WU. Without that flag it would say there's no work to do. It seems to work well as is though. I get about 380 PPD steady off that machine.
Thank you all. Fantastic forum btw.

Re: Points falling off since the 18th??
With the A3 core, sinse the introduction of project 6701 (my first was on june 12), global SMP PPD has gone down.
It was quite dramatic the first two days, with the bonus that was not activated, but it "pays " 20% to 30% less points with bonus across all four of my SMP clients.
You might ne experiencing the same

Re: Points falling off since the 18th??
Have you tried to use -advmethods instead of -bigadv? You see, even if you use the -bigadv flag, the Client will report only 2 Cores to the Servers and the Servers will ignore it as they are configured for 8+ Cores. Using -advmethods will increase your WU selection (you will have access to advance/late Stage BETA WUs) but it also increases the odds of getting a WU to EUE.BCCHowdy wrote:...Panther, on the -bigadv flag... this is the only way I could get the client to grab a WU. Glad you found where your points have gone, I've donated a few to team 0 myself with a misconfig.BCCHowdy wrote:I found it!! The username for GPU2 is _ team 0. I'm not sure what units you are getting using -bigadv flag on a duo, maybe you got no work coincidentally due to a server drought and adding the flag diverted you to another server, you won't actually be getting bigadvanced units. As mentioned you could try replacing with -advmethods, but hey if it's working and you can complete may stick with it for now.

Re: Points falling off since the 18th??
I posted way back that people were writing a3 guides with using -bigadv to get a3 units, and it seems to work. Most likely as the server doesn't know the flag, and just tossed out an a3 because of it.
