I already know that you shouldn't upgrade a Core mid-WU but you also stated that if the machine isn't going to shut down untill the WU finishes, you can delete the Core while F@H SMP2 Client is running. Does this applies to Windows SMP2 Clients too? Also since there is a new version of the Core for Linux, does it mean that a new version for the Windows Core can be expected?FAH-Addict wrote:To install this new version, delete the current core and the client will download the new version automatically. As always, it is not recommended to perform this update mid-unit, as it is probable that the new core will reject the checkpoint created by the previous core and restart the unit. If you are absolutely certain that your machine will not be switched off before the unit ends, it may be possible to delete the old core without stopping the client. The old core will be held in RAM processing the unit, and the client will then update to the new core version when it starts the next unit.

Yes, it even works on the GPU clients.you can delete the Core while F@H SMP2 Client is running. Does this applies to Windows SMP2 Clients too?
One would hope it doesn't crash on Linux, then we can talk about Windows. Linux a3 2.21 was slower and bugged out 2684's, but I haven't yet had the chance to test 2.22. Takes a while for a 2684 to finish so that I can hopefully get another one.since there is a new version of the Core for Linux, does it mean that a new version for the Windows Core can be expected?

It would be reasonable to expect that even if the next revision of the Windows core is not called v2.22 (i.e. is a later revision with further enhancements too), these enhancements will make their way into the Windows core at some point.PantherX wrote: Also since there is a new version of the Core for Linux, does it mean that a new version for the Windows Core can be expected?

Windows will refuse to delete the file if it's in use ...
Re: FAH-Addict: Folding@home's premier news site.
You may move the .exe file out of its normal directory while it's active, just not into the recycle bin until the current work unit has finished or restarted.

Nothing really new ... I already talked about the GTX 460 and the 490 and their potential specifications ... and they're not very precise on technical specifications of the other chips
