Psummary missing projects 1796 & 1797

Post by DrSpalding »

Hi,

I switched a couple of uniprocessor clients to -advmethods a few days ago and started getting a few 1796 and 1797 projects. They don't exist on the Project Summary page, although they do show up in the specific lookup for the project. The server obviously is assigning WUs but I see no other information on them. HFM.Net doesn't find any information on these projects either, so they don't show up in its point calculations.

Here is a dump of the queue.dat for one of the 1796 WUs:

Code: Select all

Index 6: folding now 8.99 X min speed; 38% complete
   server: 134.139.127.32:8080; project: 1796, "41330"
   Folding: run 18, clone 160, generation 0; benchmark 0; misc: 500, 200, 2 (le)
   issue: Fri May 14 15:29:56 2010; begin: Fri May 14 15:30:02 2010
   expect: Sun May 16 04:51:57 2010; due: Fri May 28 15:30:02 2010 (14 days)
   core URL: http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Win32/x86/Core_a0.fah (V1.93)
core number: 0xa0; core name: GROMACS33
   CPU: 1,687 Pentium II/III; OS: 1,0 Windows
   tag: P1796R18C160F0
   flops: 1065000295 (1065.000295 megaflops)
   memory: 1024 MB
   client type: 3 Advmethods
   assignment info (le): Fri May 14 15:29:33 2010; 9512B392
   CS: 134.139.127.33; P limit: 10484736
user: DrSpalding; team: 48083; ID: [deleted]; mach ID: 2
   work/wudata_06.dat file size: 928993; WU type: Folding@Home

The server 134.139.127.32 is listed on the server status page as "folding2" and administered by esorin. Why aren't the projects listed in the project summary?

Edit: rDNS tells me that the server is at Cal State Long Beach:
c:\Tmp> ping -a 134.139.127.32

Pinging folding2.cnsm.csulb.edu [134.139.127.32] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 134.139.127.32: bytes=32 time=36ms TTL=50

All projects from 134.139.127.32 are actually missing and I remember reading somewhere that a bug in the communication between this server and the psummary script was the cause of this issue.

But I don't remember if someone posted that it would be possible to fix it or not ... :(

Bump.

Anyone? I hate to start off by saying this since I always said that when a request starts off like this, it will be automatically discounted!

It would be nice if psummary had the projects 179x from folding2.cnsm.csulb.edu (134.139.127.32) included someday soon.

I now have five clients running project 1796 WUs and no info on them in HFM.net. It bugs me. :)

To my knowledge these have not been released to the public yet.

What are you referring to by "these"? The 1796 and 1797 projects? Well, if I am not the "public", I would like to know where I got to be private, beta, or part of the Pande Group. All I did was add the -advmethods flag. There isn't really any excuse for the projects to not be on the psummary page if the public has ready access to folding them.

Yeah, I've had several of these work units too; i.e. they have continued to be handed out, either in error or not.

Mistakes do happen. The only official notice for these projects have been in non-public forums. When released, to the general public, the psummary should automatically be updated and the fact that it wasn't means there has been an error somewhere.

There have been errors in the psummary in the past, so that would be my first suspicion...

I think they have moved to public ... but no one posted about it ... :(

If you look in the server status page, column PROGRAM, you'll see that 134.139.127.32 is assigning to A (-advmethods) ... so these WUs are definitely public.

But 134.139.127.32 is known to not generate psummary correctly :?

Yes, these two projects are both on serving to -advmethods clients now. We've had troble with the psummary script not showing our jobs properly in the past, but I thought this was fixed ... will look into this today. In the meantime, please see the project info page for credit and deadline info on these projects.

Fold On...

And just like that, they are gone again. It sounds like whatever the problem was is still there.

Get em while you can ;)

I managed to get HFM to grab them so they're now showing up for me.

I missed it. I went to HFM to download a current psummary and nothing changed. So, I went and looked and the two projects were gone.

I just checked again--they are still MIA.
