A1 units on 171.64.65.63 ?

Post by susato »

I'm finding that my OSX machines and quad core Linux boxes, and those of a team member with a large farm, have been pulling down only Core_a1 units since around noon yesterday. Most of these units are coming from server 171.64.65.63 (vspg1v), a server dedicated to Linux and OSX machines.

Distributing large quantities of a1 units to Linux and OSX machines seems a poor use of donor resources, since the Linux and OSX clients process a2 and a3 units much more efficiently than a1's.

Still folding whatever Stanford sends, but wondering if there's a specific reason for so many a1 units being issued on this server.

I'm wondering if it is related to the fact that many OSX users are seeing issues with 2.17 A3 core ...

It's starting to look like its an issue specific to the combination of the 2.17 core and snow leo. My iMac runs 10.5 and hasn't had a hiccup running a3's yet with any core version.

My linux box picked up an a1 yesterday, it's currently working on an a3. Meh for me, but I don't have a farm either...

So one of you with an OSX system just went from getting A3's to A1's, and also a linux machine picked up an A1. I'm here to add that my WindowsXP system which has many A3's under its belt picked up an A1 a few hours ago, which means we've got pretty close to full representation here: OSX, linux, WindowsXP, all going from A3's to A1's. I'd say that rules out any OS getting singled out. Oh, I should add that I verified my A1 WU did come from 171.64.65.63.

Just got another one, so once again, 171.64.65.63 gave me an A1 unit when all work servers are giving me A3's that I turn in at about 13 hours each (well ahead of preferred deadline).
