System is AMD 710, Gigabyte 790FX Gskill 4x2gb OCZ 30gb core V2 SSD XFX R4890 and MSI R4890 both at stock settings 850mhz. I have been writing code since 1962 so I know better than to over clock. Operating system XP64 sp 1, no flash, no active X, no Java, no Javascript, no junk of any kind IE is disabled as far as web browsing. Remote access is disabled, I am running KIS 2009 Schlumberger Petrol, FAH X86 and GPU. Browser is Firefox. I also have a security certificate and software from NERC/OATI, drivers are ATI10-3. No printer no peripherals. I have had no problems until I got 4756. This card is gpu 1 MSI Cyclone id 2 the other is gpu 0 id 8 and is the XFX. If you are really bored I can show you how to divide by 0 on an IBM 1620 in fortran II.

Machine has since cratered again. Teh fact that it ran 5744 with no problem in the middle of this makes me think that there is some code that may violate a security settings. And no9 I won't chnage those since they are required so no one can turn off the lights in Ca or elsewhere in the WECC.

System is AMD 710, Gigabyte 790FX Gskill 4x2gb OCZ 30gb core V2 SSD XFX R4890 and MSI R4890 both at stock settings 850mhz. I have been writing code since 1962 so I know better than to over clock. Operating system XP64 sp 1, no flash, no active X, no Java, no Javascript, no junk of any kind IE is disabled as far as web browsing. Remote access is disabled, I am running KIS 2009 Schlumberger Petrol, FAH X86 and GPU. Browser is Firefox. I also have a security certificate and software from NERC/OATI, drivers are ATI10-3. No printer no peripherals. I have had no problems until I got 4756. This card is gpu 1 MSI Cyclone id 2 the other is gpu 0 id 8 and is the XFX. If you are really bored I can show you how to divide by 0 on an IBM 1620 in fortran II.
Someone else has successfully completed that WU.

The fact that the GPU says it's getting calculation errors (NaN detected) when the only thing FAH is doing is moving data between RAM and the GPU makes your theory about a security violation rather improbable, but I'm sure there's a log somewhere saying what potential security violations were detected. Please look for it.

A more likely scenario is that either your GPU is producing too much heat for your fans to remove or you've installed the GPU into a system with a marginal power supply. Unfortunately those are only guesses and I'm not sure we can debug it from here.

. . . Oh, and thanks for keeping my lights on. :D (It was a nice sunny day and my solar produced almost exactly what I expect to use before morning.)

Bruce a visit to my friendly local US CERT office has an answer for us. The CERT security software was not recognizing the digital signature on the 47xx series for some reason. I had previously run into this when the cpu tried to download the A0 core. I have talked to someone else who had the same problem with KIS 2010 on the A0 core.

Any way errata. I did a full load pull down test on the power supply and it passed at 625 watts rated 600 watts and 580 watts at 12v DC.. Got out my strip charts recorder with the appropriate CT's and ran 36 hours of amp reading/voltage /wattage readings on the power supply. Get some variation with voltage rise at night due to an unswitched cap bank about a mile away. Ambient room temperature is 15-18C at night windows open to the outside, Case Temp is 25-27C, CPU is a steady 38C. GPU is 56-58C. AC Wattage is stable on the 57xx series at roughly 480 watts +/-5 watts with both 4890's running. I get a 15 watt rise with the 47xx series on one card and a 35 watt rise to 515 watts the one time I had it on both cards. Also noticed increased flutter/instability in amp readings. So the 47xx unit is more stressful on the card.

As to your solar, unless you use the heated oil solar instead of photovoltaic you are almost as bad as dirty old coal in toxic metals released. Go over to Mark Jacobsen's office and let him put you on the path to being righteous. He has a wonderful paper explaining how clean or dirty everything is on a life cycle basis. FAH is a free rider on a project using Mark and Christine's work to bring 3300mw/h of clean reliable wind power to that den of iniquity in which you live if Arizona and Nevada don't steal it first. Take away about 25-35 million tons of CO2 annually.
