Changing Drive Letters

I was wondering if there would be any problems if I were to change the default drive letter from C to A in Windows 7? With a single hard drive and a DVD drive I thought of using Disk Management to change the drive letters to A and B respectively. Would this in any way effect the F@H CPU & GPU clients? Should I do this with a fresh install of the OS before installing anything or can I do it at a later stage without suffering any broken file paths or other errors?

"A" might be an issue, as isn't it reserved for floppys?


Anyway, everywhere I read says you cannot change your primary, i.e C as you'll destroy the boot stuff.

Historically, both A and B were reserved for floppys. I have not seen any reports saying that this restriction has been removed, but I'm not sure it would be headline news if it were.

Some Windows programs, back in the day, did not like anything but C:\ for the main hard drive. Programmers these days should know better, but unless you are running out of driver letters, there's no need to make such a change. Don't change it, and avoid many potential headaches.

Thanks, I thought that with windows 7, they would drop the support for Floppy as they are extinct. I just have 1 as a souvenir
