Project 6318: Collection server misconfigured?

Yes, I understand that a new assignment server very likely means a different family of projects and that is why I posted it. I was happy that it did switch so it could get a WU to work on. Switching away from the assignment server that is handing out the IP address of the 6318 servers was the point.

Secondly, yes, I understand (completely) that the uploading is disconnected from the downloading and subsequent work on the actual folding.

In my case, one of the problematic p6318 WUs was finished and tried to upload a couple of times. Those two connection attempts were along the likes of "Could not connect to Work Server (results)" on port 8080 and the retry on port 80. After that, it had many attempts that had the ~8 minute connections that resulted in "Server does not have record of this unit. Will try again later." The first one I see was at 06:54 UTC on 4 Feb 2010. The WU was completed on 06:46 UTC on 4 Feb 2010. Every upload attempt for p6318 r3126 c28 g1 (I think I got it confused with the another p6318 WU above that was behaving similarly but came after this one) was the variety of mostly "Server does not have record..." with a few of "Could not connect...".

If you would like to see the log for the machine that was not able to upload several of the completed p6318 WUs, please let me know. Perhaps if the client code gets connected to the server but doesn't get a timely response back from the server it reverts to the "Server does not have record of ..." state?

A copy of the log is always a good idea. Especially from the first few times it tried to upload. (I'm willing to accept that fact that later connection attempts probably all look alike.)

I really doubt that "..does not have a record..." is related to how promptly a server responds.

Yes, this weekend I was also getting many of those "no record" attempted uploads, but after many retries the work units eventually uploaded successfully to the normal server.

The collection server work units that were not processed were from much earlier and I reported the issue days ago.

The final answer is when all these WUs start uploading and people report that here. As long as the client keeps trying to upload the WUs automatically, you shouldn't have to take any additional actions.

I had two machines that each ran several 6318 folding work units, resulting in several queue slots tied up on both machines due to failed uploads. Since your server came back online, the queue slots have cleared and both of my machines seem to be folding and transmitting normally now. The "Could not transmit unit nn to server" messages have stopped. Thanks...

I appear to have a similar problem.
My questions are:
1. The file to be uploaded is waiting for success since 24th of January; is it worthwhile to try to get it uploaded anymore?
2. Will changing to client v6 give any problems, knowing there is a WU waiting to be uploaded?
3. Where can I find v6 for Vista?
4. Is the console version more efficient than the system tray version?
