F@H is only using 25% of CPU. Help!

Post by Holy_Devil »

I was wondering if I could get help making F@H use 100% of my CPU.

I have an Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.66 GHz, and even when I set FahCore_78.exe to realtime priority(in task manager), it still only uses 25% of my CPU.

I have already checked that it is set to use 100% of my processor, and I have also checked in task manager that it is set to use all four processors.

Any ideas?

Add the -smp 4 flag to your configuration (advanced section). without it, the client defaults to uniprocessor. Further, it will not take effect immediately in that the current WU needs to finish before it will get an SMP WU.

The other alternative would be to run four separate copies of the uniprocessor client. Each needs its own folder and a different machineID to make them work well with each other.

Do I put -smp 4 in the core network address field, or the additional client parameters field?

Also, should I leave "Do NOT lock cores to specific CPU" unchecked?

Additional client parameters. I don't lock my cores but each to their own.

Welcome to foldingforum.org, Holy_Devil

It goes in the additional parameters field. Also, if you don't have the v6.92 client, I recommend that you upgrade to it at the same time.

If you want to be efficient you can also add -advmethods to the additional client parameters field and the get and insert a passkey so you can get the good A3 WU's.
