I wish to use GPU Client, How do I?
Hello all, my name is John and I just installed F@H 6.23 windows cpu client. I don't really know much about the project but I have a server that runs 24/7 and figured why not help, and put the otherwise wasted uptime to some use. I'm goin to install it on my desktop also but I would like to know where to get the gpu client. Thanks in advance for any help.

Oh yeah, I started a team and was wondering if I could install F@H on all the PCs on my local network and add them to my team.

Hi John,
I would recommend that you take some time to familiarise yourself with F@H. Explore the website, read the guides, search the forum.
Get to understand how the CPU client runs on your system, before you try installing the GPU client.
With regards to the GPU client, note that it is a Beta release. Follow the links from the Download page. To run the GPU client, you need to have either an Nvidia or ATI graphics card and Windows XP or Vista.
There are 2 version, System Tray and Console. The System Tray version is easier to get started with, but do not use the viewer as this can cause system crashes. With the Console version you can run the GPU client as a service.
You can install the CPU client on all the PCs on your network and add them to your team, you can set up each PC to login using the same username, but I would recommend that you apply for a passkey.

Only install on your network IF YOU HAVE WRITEN PERMISSION.
As per the gpu, what card do you have?

You can install F@H on as many computers on your private LAN as you wish. The unique "machine ID" restriction only applies to multiple clients on individual computer "boxes," so a default installation of the appropriate client can be done on each machine. Use the same user ID and team number on all clients on all machines.Capnmorgan wrote:Oh yeah, I started a team and was wondering if I could install F@H on all the PCs on my local network and add them to my team.
On a corporate LAN, you need permission from the owner/operator/administrator/manager of the LAN to install F@H on any computers. If you are the owner of the company, you can do as you wish. If you are a corporate LAN administrator and have the authority to install this type of app on the LAN, I would suggest you place an authorization letter and explanation of the installation(s) in the appropriate record file.

Re: I wish to use GPU Client, How do I?
The network is in my home so no problems there, I have 5 PCs plus my homeserver, The server is hosting a website so it runs 24/7. I have an ATI HD5770 in the pc I use and my sons has an HD3850. I am running win xp 32bit, vista 32bit, vista 64bit, windows 7 64bit, windows home server, and ubuntu between all the PCs. I'm disabled and can't find anything better to spend my time on so I play with computers all day , LOL. Thanks for the replies.

Re: I wish to use GPU Client, How do I?
Both the HD3850 and 5770 should Fold the GPU client. Read up on the Environment Variables required.
Ubuntu will do best with the SMP client if it's on a multi-core machine.
The GPU client will run as a Service (out of sight; out of mind) on XP, but not Vista or Win7. If you run the CPU client (e.g., if the SMP client is not reliable for any reason, or for a part-time running machine), it will run as a Service -- including multiple instances -- on any Win version.

Re: I wish to use GPU Client, How do I?
Thanks everyone. I have been reading the guide, guess I should have done that in the first place, and I now have the gpu and cpu sys.tray versions running on my windows 7 64 bit machine, I'm gonna play with the console version also. I can view the process without crash just fine, it occasionaly shutters on both cpu and gpu versions but seems fine. I love the GPU version, it responds well to GPU overclocking, I never really OCed my video card because It didn't really do anything (going from 120fps to 130fps really is useless considering my 12v rail drops to12.03v from 12.54 when I OC my GPU).
well, I'm having fun with F@H and It's nice to be part of something bigger. I'll keep it running on my server for as long as the server is in service, the high performace clients should keep me occupied for a while but I'll keep it going in the back ground on the rest of my PCs too, even after I find the next form of entertainment to keep me from going nuts.
Again, thanks everyone and I hope that my small contribution helps.
