I am monitoring this machine as it started failing running an SMP client.
Getting a classic client to fail seems irregular. Getting ready to restart the service and see if it will fail at the same point.

It keeps failing @ 7% and I keep getting it.

Deleting the Work folder, que and unitinfo files do not deter Stanford from sending the same WU back for another failure.

It has been over 3 days and it keeps halting at 7%
I suspect it isn't even working as Task Manager only shows 80% usage running Two GPU clients (nVidia) and three Classic Clients.
I have tried changing the Affinity setting with no success.

This is nothing new. The servers have always re-sent WUs to see if the failure was a fluke. To get rid of a WU, you have to really work at it, and that's especially difficult when running as a service.

Deleting the queue and the Work folder should download a WU, but it's often the same WU multiple times (unitinfo isn't important). If you've tried several times and still can't get rid of it, try changing Machine ID.

Runing three classic clients should give you 75% of a Quad. Adding two nVidia client's adds almost nothing, so 80% makes sense.

Affinity has nothing to do with that.

I have seldom had to restart a client more than 4 times to get a new WU.
I have deleted the Work folder and queue file, ran the client with -configonly switch to change the ID.
SOS . Same WU and with multiple failures at 7%
Will one of the mods look into this WU please.

The odds of the same WU being assigned to different Machine IDs is astronomically small. Please post FAHlog showing both Machine ID and both download.

The Mod database was taken off-line to speed up the Stats updates. The only thing I can tell you is that the results were not uploaded recently from one of your clients, but you already know that.

Unknown errors (like ERROR 0x77) in FahCore_78 are rather rare, but not impossible. All the wiki suggests is 0x77 might be Disk full?! or Out of Virtual memory. (Increase the size of the paging file.). Since you had unknown problems with SMP, that increases the likelihood that you're still seeing the same error.

Well there was a power spike this afternoon that took down the farm. All the machines restarted on their own and I could not run chkdsk/f.
However, the problem client picked up a different WU.

Got the same unit rinse & repeated many times & it was a bugger to get rid of. I have lost days of production on this unit.
Can't this unit be trashed it has been in the wild now for over a month causing problems!

Generally it takes 4 or 5 purges of \work, queue.dat, and unitinfo before the server stops sending it. If I get 2 EUEs on the same WU, I will manually purge and download repeatedly until a different WU comes in. Only once or twice have I received the same WU later...

When running a client as a Service, it's not all that hard to do if you have a handy shortcut to the Services tab on the desktop, Launch Bar, or other preferred spot. Open the Services tab, an Explorer window. and a FahMon window. Stop the F@H Service. Navigate to the F@H directory and delete the appropriate files & directory. Restart the F@H Service. Hit F6 in the FahMon window a few times until you see what WU comes in. Repeat as necessary.

Hi. I have had the same WU fail also, at 7%. Purged files 3 times now, maybe fourth purge will be the cure, and I can move on to another WU.

Why can't this WU be purged from the system?

I am going to try to delete the work directory (after checking for any unsent WU's) and try downloading again.

Edit: 14:48 PDT: How on EARTH do you get F@H to move on? IMO, having a switch that lets you signify to the server that you cannot accept project X on the next download would be a great addition when you run up against these issues.

Edit: 14:51 PDT: Finally got it to move on. Perhaps also deleting all of the fahcore*.exe files makes it think twice, or perhaps it just takes 5-10 downloads of the same project/run/clone/gen to get the server(s) to decide it is a problem.
