don't want to leave pc on to fold ??
when i leave my pc for an hour or more i turn it of to save power and money ( on a pension ) is there any why i can make it idle just to keep it folding and not use to much power
Re: don't want to leave pc on to fold ??
I don't know what kind of PC you have, but if you just wanted to run one uniprocessor client, I don't think that would take too much power. Either the systray or console version would do fine. I wouldn't suggest the gpu client if you want to save power.

The amount of power it uses depends on the system. The motherboard draws a few (10?) watts, and a typical Core 2 CPU draws 65 watts (dual) to 95 watts (quad) at full load; add 5 watts for a disk drive. So, if you have a dual-core CPU and run a single CPU client, the system will draw much less than 100 watts (I'd guess 50-60) if you turn off the monitor. That's 36-43 KWH (KiloWatt-Hours) per month, or around $4.00/month if you pay 10 cents/KWH.
That's not quite "idle," but you can base your decision on knowing how much it will affect your electric bill.
