Checksum error?

Post by whk1992 »

Hi, I read the log file of F@H, and found sth that looks bad :(

Code: Select all

[14:48:50] Finished Work Unit:
[14:48:50] - Reading up to 435712 from "work/wudata_01.trr": Read 435712
[14:48:50] - Reading up to 32760 from "work/wudata_01.xtc": Read 32760
[14:48:53] - Checksum of file (work/wudata_01.xtc) read from disk doesn't match
[14:48:53]
[14:48:53] Folding@home Core Shutdown: FILE_IO_ERROR
[14:48:57] CoreStatus = 75 (117)
[14:48:57] Error opening or reading from a file.
[14:48:57] Deleting current work unit & continuing...
Is that means the whole work unit is 'crashed' ?

Thanks.

So... What would cause this type of problem?
Thanks.

Apparently some other task has modified one of FAH's working files. The most common case seems to be an AntiVirus program which looks at the mostly random bit patterns in the numeric data and finds a string which, if it were embedded in executable code might be a virus. The AV software quarantines the file and FAH detects the corruption and reports it as an error.

Other (less likely) causes include actual disk errors causing file system corruption, system crashes (without a sync of the disk cache), etc.

Make sure your AV software does NOT check the work folder for viruses. (It contains only data, no executable code).
