Did you by any chance reboot because of a kernel patch? Every time the kernel is patched, the nvidia drivers have to be recompiled. This can be done automatically by dkms, and having the nvidia driver register itself with dkms when it's installed. I checked specially that yesterday. Uninstall FaH, ...
