Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
I am not running -smp right now because I was told to finish up the work unit without it. But, I did have the shortcut with the -smp flag in my startup folder even before this installation. It was still in there from a previous installation that had been botched. So, I would think that this flag is...

Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
Then what made it go to type 78, when I had the -smp flag there at the begining of this installation?

Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
That message indicates that you've started the client both with and without the -smp flag. Apparently you downloaded a WU for the uniprocessor (type 78 is for a single processor) and now you're trying to specify -smp. You'll have to wait for the current WU to finish before smp kicks in. I have both...

Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
Remove the -smp flag and use the -oneunit flag to finish the current uniprocessor WU. Then add the -smp flag. Several times when I have turned off the computer, gives the IO and Client Died errors and starts the work unit all over again. I will add the new flag and see if I can ever get this one fi...

Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
Now, it seems to be working again. I don't want to always have to be checking if this app is working or not. --- Opening Log file [September 19 19:01:54 UTC] # Windows CPU Console Edition ################################################# ##############################################################...

Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
Just some finer points... Is this line in my log anything to be concerned about? Work type 78 not eligible for variable processors I have a Q6600 Quad processor with 8 gigs of RAM , that is usually not being used that much. Except for when things were just hung up and running all cores at 100 percen...

Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
Got it folding again. Thanks. Mistakes I had been making... I hadn't seen at first that I wasn't supposed to give it my computer's name, that it does that automatically. I also didn't let it install to program files this time, but a folder on the root of the OS. It was still having trouble writing t...

Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
The file you got is the new client, it both runs single processor as smp wu's. The smp installers are needed to install the MPI libraries the cores use to communicate, if you already have those ( and you do otherwise the client would not run ) you can just drop in the same binary. I have already ju...

Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
Please read the big NOTE on the download page. Then download the v6.24 drop in binary to replace the expired v6.23 executable. Don't use the v5.9x versions. Thanks. I dropped that in. That has the same file name as previously, Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe However, I didn't see a replacement for this ...

Re: After Vista reinstall Folding won't Startup with Computer
Thanks for all the answers. I have tried the various instructions. Things I was doing wrong before - didn't previously have a windows password. I do now, and also have it auto-login. I also now have it set to run as administrator. When I run install.bat, I get the right responses. When I try running...
