I am also prepared to adjust it manually via the web app on my phone now that they can talk. Thank you again!

calxalot wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2024 1:04 am You might instead want to use the built in on idle feature
This would be for on an iPhone, not sure if that changes practicality lol

Re: web client showing no machines after installing 8.3.18

Glad I could help. Note that Safari cannot directly connect to the local client. It works fine for any clients linked to your account. Noted, thank you! Now, the only thing which could make today even better is if there were a way to make a Siri shortcut the automatically change the number of cores...

Re: web client showing no machines after installing 8.3.18

Fix the allow entry first. You may need to copy the file somewhere so you can edit it. Then copy it back, overwriting the old one. The v8 installer will fix ownership for you. duplicated xml file to desktop, removed line as requested. reinstalled v8. now it is working, even running in Safari. Thank...

Re: web client showing no machines after installing 8.3.18

I think a fresh uninstall/reinstall is warranted, but would that invalidate the data I have just posted?

Old V7 website interface DOES work
Do you mean http://client.foldingathome.org/ ?
If that connects and shows anything, you are somehow running v7, which uses the same local port as v8, but is not compatible.
Yes, this perfectly describes what is happening. How do I fix?

Re: web client showing no machines after installing 8.3.18

Look for fah-client in activity monitor to verify it is running. It should always be running once installed. I feel like things got mixed up throughout this thread. Summary: 1. I used to fold often. I used V7 a while back. I then took a break. 2. I tried to install V8 to use the new web interface. ...

calxalot wrote: Tue Nov 26, 2024 11:36 pm The errors you posted earlier from the browser indicated that the v8 client was probably not running.
How do I get v8 running then?

Re: web client showing no machines after installing 8.3.18

For v7 we used right-click on the slot and select Pause or Finish etc. For v8 you may find what you're looking for at https://foldingathome.org/v8-3-client-guide/ Keep in mind the login on v8 has nothing to do with your forum login or folding passkey, it is a new login for v8 that you create Got it...

I understand that. What I am telling you is that I installed that version, and even after that it is not working.

Re: web client showing no machines after installing 8.3.18

calxalot wrote: Tue Nov 26, 2024 11:17 pm You just need to install v8. It will upgrade v7.
I did install v.8 via this link for Mac:
https://foldingathome.org/start-folding/

There was no new Mac controller app that got installed.
