Re: How to change data drive
I assume that you are using Windows. You can install a 2nd SSD or a HDD and after it is setup in Windows as D: - then re-install FAH using the Advanced option, you can change the Data Folder location to D:\ (assuming that you only have C: for Windows). You could even install FAHClient on D: as well,...

Re: Are there any CPUs that come close to the power of a GPU
The short answer is No, not even close. A fast, powerful modern GPU (Geforce RTX or top end GTX) will do ~1.5 million PPD versus top end desktop CPU at ~100k. If you are a gamer, then buy the best GPU you can afford and a decent 4 or 8 core CPU (one will be used for FAH on GPU) and rest can run FAH ...

Re: New installation on Ubuntu won't start
Just to update this to hopefully help someone else if needed, I found the solution. I have a Sophos XG firewall and even though all logs showed connections to FAH servers were allowed, there was something in the default policies that blocked download of the core files. I had to create a FW rule to a...

Re: Which GPU is better?
Thanks for the insight. I actually had the chance to cancel my order for the 2070 (due to rare Amazon delivery failure), so I have ordered the EVGA RTX 2080 XC instead.

Re: Which GPU is better?
Thanks, I guess not much has changed over the last 10 years!
I went for the EVGA RTX 2070 XC which was going for a good deal on Amazon.

Which GPU is better?
Hi
I am getting back into FAH again and thinking to use a GPU only for FAH on my Windows 10 desktop (Core i5).
Trying to decide between either nVidia RTX2070 or Radeon RX Vega 64.
Any thoughts or issues I should consider?
Thanks

Re: New installation on Ubuntu won't start
Thanks for the replies. I have checked my firewall logs and the connections are all allowed and nothing seems to be blocked. I have created exceptions to prevent AV scanning for FAH. Still get: ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Failed reading core package header every time it tries to download the core_a7....

New installation on Ubuntu won't start
Hello, I have decide to return to FAH after a long break - I have been concentrating on WCG as that runs on Ubuntu/Linux in a VMware VM. I installed the v7.5.1 client in a new Ubuntu 18.04 VM and tried to start it up but I just get the error message that it cannot read the Header for Core_a7.fah. I ...

Re: Project: 6900 (Run 40, Clone 15, Gen 1)
So the 3 day return deadline still applies to Bigadv? The v7 client does not show any date between begin and End = 6 days.

Re: point system is getting ridiculous...
I think many will know this however some may not - the World Community Grid (WCG) project uses a points system that tries to be fair to all contibutors regardless of how powerful their hardware is (e.g. everyone will get the same points for the same unit), of course faster machines will always compl...

Re: Completed WUs not accepted by FAH Servers
I have also noticed that some clients fail to send results back automatically. For some like GPU3 it will continue to recieve new work and queue the completed work, for others like SMP it will just sit and wait for many hours until a manual restart or successful send. I usually shutdown my clients i...

Re: 171.67.108.22
I think it could be due to the size of these WU's - mine takes 20 minutes to return a completed WU (~100Mb) and download is ~20Mb.
