Re: Domain decomposition error in project 14524
Manually changing the thread count to 8 makes this WU run fine, I just wanted to report that it was assigned to my system that was configured for an amount of threads it is apparently incompatible with

Domain decomposition error in project 14524
Checking on my machine, I noticed it was continually trying to start the following work unit, but failing to do so, stuck in a loop repeatedly. I pasted the logs below. The CPU is a Ryzen 5 1600, also running a GPU, the client automatically configures it to 11 threads, 12 minus 1 for the GPU (i did ...

Re: Any recommendations for inexpensive secondhand GPUs?
Don't use GT 1030 cards unless you already have them or get it extremely cheap and just want to supplement your folding points. And with a card that weak you should leave it folding 24/7 if you want to make sure it completes it's work units, because it does them slowly. That being said, the card IS ...

How useful are CPUs to the science?
I know that when optimizing builds for maximum PPD, people tend to focus on GPUs, and getting as many of them running as possible. This makes sense because they do the largest PPD. But I know that GPU and CPU projects are separate, and use separate software. Now what I want to know is how vital are ...

Re: PPD Database - HFM exports needed
Yeah, I only fold on linux, but I'd like to contribute to the database, it would be useful to have average performance not JUST on one OS too, folding on linux especially for dedicated 24/7 machines or folding farms isn't uncommon, I imagine.

Re: PPD Database - HFM exports needed
I apologize for the noob-ish question, but what exactly IS HFM, and how do I get it/use it? I'd be more than happy to share stats of what my machines are doing. I have a GT 1030 running 24/7 in an old machine, and an RX 560 running damn near 24/7 in my main desktop. I have CPUs going too. I'd like t...

How big a hard drive/ssd do I need?
I'm aware that storage space/storage read/write speed isn't really much of a bottleneck for the f@h software. But how far can I push this? If I were putting together a dedicated folding rig, and all my budget was going into GPUs or a decent CPU (probably more GPU) how low can I go on storage space? ...

Re: Does not having the latest client have any negative effe
I don't care about the Covid19 priority option, I prefer to leave it as any disease so that any and all work that is in the system gets done. With all the new people joining wanting to do the Covid19 work units, I don't think there will be any shortage of computers working on them. If the update has...

Does not having the latest client have any negative effect?
Currently have been running it on and off for awhile since installing it on my main desktop a few years ago. In the System Info tab on the client control app it says it is version 7.5.1. I am still getting work units and crunching numbers constantly (unless the work unit shortage interferes of cours...

Re: MacOS GPU
I have no Mac with any GPU that would even be useful to run Folding on, so this whole topic is slightly irrelevant to me. But I'm curious, something I noticed. If GPU folding is not supported in MacOS, how come it lists a small amount of GPUs as active under MacOS on the Folding@Home OS Stats page?

Re: Can't upload to 140.163.4.231 again
I also have a work unit repeatedly failing to upload to this server. Someone else pointed out that their work unit seemed to have already been processed by somone else and given credit for. I checked this one, and similarly, it had been assigned to two others before apparently. logs: 15:14:00:WU02:F...
