Re: GCC-9 upgrades break folding
I guess you run an old nvidia driver? I'm on Fedora 31, gcc version gcc-9.3.1-2.fc31.x86_64. No issues with folding. kernel is at 5.6.13-200.fc31.x86_64, and nvidia driver at 440.82. dkms used to build the nvidia kernel modules PS - folding doesn't "use" gcc. gcc is used to compile stuff, ...

Re: pause/resume WU - 25% of credit gone
hmmm, ok then. Still rather puzzling seen the fact I mostly receive WU's with an estimated time somewhere between 6 and 19 hours. Assumiing I would actually pause a WU for a week, but end it before "you have 7 days to run the WU" the original credit of let's say 100K will by reduced to 1K ...

Re: pause/resume WU - 25% of credit gone
In my experience Libreoffice does NOT use openGL, but it uses OpenCL if you enable that (where it should really be using OpenGL: rendering of even text, let alone graphs is horrid when other processes are using the GPU at 100%). I see evidence in nvidia-smi it does allocate a type "C" (Ope...

pause/resume WU - 25% of credit gone
Hi, it happens I really need to pause the folding GPU work, for instance when I need to work with Libreoffice, which becomes near impossible to do when the GPU is at 100%. So, pausing a WU, and resuming it as little as 5 or 10 minutes later - 25% or so of estimated credit: gone. Not complaining, but...

PantherX, yes, web control shows the accurate number of credits.
Thanks

Re: rank on a username basis, not passkey?
That's what I posted, yes: username and team. clicking username gives me stats of anyone sharing my username, which, again, is useless. Clicking group gives me group stats, and true username stats. @Neil-B, that's correct - I see many different groups where the username apparently matches my usernam...

Re: rank on a username basis, not passkey?
Thanks PantherX. I understand the purpose of the passkey. FAHControl offers two clickable links: username and group. When I click the username I get folding statistics for everyone called "marc", which is really not interesting. The passkey is present in /etc/fahclient/config.xml, so I don...

rank on a username basis, not passkey?
Hi, I joined a group of colleagues. The group lists my actual work, now 41 WU's done, ca. 1,5 million credit points. I use my own name, with a unique (I assume) passkey. In FAHControl when I click the group I see my actual stats, if I click my name I see 23.7 million credits and 67K WU's. That doesn...

Re: OpenCL: Not detected: clGetDeviceIDs() returned -1
read my post in this forum, had the same issue. caused by multiple .icd's in /etc/OpenCL/vendors. clinfo goes trough the list one by one, FAHClient doesn't know what to do. Rename all .icd files to something not ending in ".icd" and just leave the nvidia.icd

linux tip when folding on GPU and firefox
Firefox hardware acceleration is claimed to be "used when available", but is actually turned off by default. When folding using a single laptop GPU this makes firefox excruciatingly slow, you can actually almost see pixels rendering. solution: in about:config set "layers.acceleration....

Re: OpenCL: Not detected: clGetDeviceIDs() returned -1
yes that is correct: mesa.icd, pocl.icd and nvidia.icd. renamed the first two
the way clinfo works is it goes through the list of vendors. I have searched for a supported way to set a preferred or main OpenCL vendor, could not find any.

Re: OpenCL: Not detected: clGetDeviceIDs() returned -1
OK _ one step closer now. I decided to crudely hack /etc/OpenCL/vendors, and leave nvidia as only valid .icd file. lo and behold, FAHClient finally recognizes the GPU: 0:58:27: CWD: /var/lib/fahclient 10:58:27: OS: Linux 5.5.13-200.fc31.x86_64 x86_64 10:58:27: OS Arch: AMD64 10:58:27: GPUs: 1 10:58:...

OpenCL: Not detected: clGetDeviceIDs() returned -1
Hello, I run FAHClient on a lenovo p53 ,NVidia T1000 mobile. Fedora 31 install. Nvidia driver 440.64 is installed (dkms). The FAH client installer did not come with /var/lib/fahclient/GPUs.txt, so I installed that manually. The T1000 is in the list, and gets reported on in log.txt: 08:06:02: CWD: /v...
