Re: YSK: Don't attempt to mess around with the settings
You can pass settings to the client at startup with the command line. To make changes to a running client you need to use telnet to connect. Anything that can be managed from FAHControl can also be managed via the telnet interface. That means you can pause slots or whatever you want to alter. In th...

Re: cant connect to my own client???
Have you attempted to reboot your computer? I've noticed that if i click exit in the advanced control, when i attempt to open advanced control again it can't reconnect. One would assume that if the FAH service gets terminated at the point of clicking exit in the advanced control that there would be ...

YSK: Don't attempt to mess around with the settings
I've been wanting to implement some basic features that the FAH client does not have. Eg. Scheduled running. Pause when certain applications are running. etc. I was going to write my own program to implement the missing features and get it to talk to the FAHclient. Looking at the available arguments...

Re: Confused as to the stats I'm being shown
https://stats.foldingathome.org/team/264066 Shows a summary of your team's performance. It shows all users registered to your team. All stats on this page include everything your team has done since it was created. So you have one user (Steve_Bishop) registered to team Steve_Bishop. Whilst Steve_Bis...

Does the server monitor clients?
I've started to check if my WUs have completed okay and if others have completed the same WU via the website. For what ever reason i decide to check another username - ALICE-JINR . It looks like the vast majority of this user's WUs fail. Does the server monitor clients and serve WUs to clients based...

Re: Questions.
Mike.LD90, May i ask what is not KISS about the F@H software? When i first used it, i installed it and it started processing work units. I didn't have to set anything up, nor did i have to interact with it. Going in to the advanced control and everything is clearly labelled and described. To me this...

Re: How do you make sure the client with no WU starts "pause
If you go to the command prompt or equivalent for the OS you use and type . You'll see a number of options you can use.
Obviously, be careful with what you do. As i imagine you can screw up your installation.
Code: Select all
FAHclient --help

Username that's not ranked
Hi, I have a machine running with its own username and passkey combination. After about successful 20 WUs, it still isn't ranked on my teams summary page (Rank N/A). Is that an issue with the website, or is the machine just not meeting a set criteria? I'm assuming that if it's the slowest F@H machin...

Re: Logs and databases
Assigned, returned and credited are all stored server side for every WU result from every folder ... the timeout and expiration periods are recorded server side for every project as is the server information ... not sure why this would be specifically stored elsewhere - though certain elements of t...

Logs and databases
Hi, Are the assigned, timeout, and expiration epoch timestamps stored long term? I see they're temporarily stored in the Units table of the client database whilst the core/client is working on the WU. I'm surprised not seeing them in the Projects table since it has some history. Also surprised to se...

I also noticed that you're not using a passkey which is recommended for security and bonus points: https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/points/passkey/ What is there to protect? I can't think of anything that requires security. There is no information in the profile, no money involved, no way to s...

Re: Is not completing WUs on time useless ?
We need to be careful/clear about Timeout and Expiration (or Deadline) are two different things … Timeout is when the WU gets put back into the queue for reissue and after which time WU only accrues Base Points … Expiration (or Deadline) is when the WU will no longer be accepted back by the WS/CS (...

Re: Is not completing WUs on time useless ?
Do note that the second assignment of the WU will be placed at the "back of the line" for it to be assigned, it doesn't "jump the line" just because the timeout period was reached. What do you exactly mean by placed at the back of the line? Has there been a stepchange in short t...
