Re: Remote Server Options
I do see a ~10-20% drop in PPD on 3070s when in a slower PCIe slot (PCIe3.0x16 vs PCIe2.0x4). Re-sizable BAR did not help.

Re: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS FAHcontrol installation
Thanks Joe_H. I've already gone back to 20.04. I might try to go 22.04 again sometime.

Re: 4090 Power Plug and F@H
I wandered into an electronics store yesterday to buy a specific brand of vacuum cleaner. Being a gamer, took a quick gander at the shiny stuff in the computer section. They had a lone 4090 on the shelf (MSI Trio, not the X version). After a few weeks of failing to be able to order one, I impulsivel...

Re: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS FAHcontrol installation
So what options for those of us on 22.04 who don't want to muck around with snaps? There is a third party version of FAHControl that was forked off the open source and updated to use Python 3. It is available at this location - https://github.com/cdberkstresser/fah-control. I could not get FAHContr...

Re: Chip shortage will affect PCs, and GPUs
I've just spent the last 3-4 hours pulling all of this together, I hope it makes sense and is useful. I would love to hear some feedback. Thank you aetch, this inspired me to finally automate my power settings at boot and was a handy reference for doing so. Now that it's about summer here I'm turni...

Re: RTX 3080 on a PCIE 2.0 board? Good or bad idea?
Your assumption appears to be correct, the GPU reports idle during that time. There is plenty of RAM but it is DDR3 1333 so, as you suggest, there my be additional delay there too. I feel that it is worth running these GPUs in this system because they pull very little power in the idle state, and th...

Re: RTX 3080 on a PCIE 2.0 board? Good or bad idea?
So did anyone manage to handle an rtx card with a PCIE 2.0 mbo? Well, An RTX 2060. It seems to run about 20% slower than in an x570/Zen3, but I'm thinking it may be a limitation of the old CPU I've got on that board. Doing the overhead tasks (start/finish/checkpointing) take a rather significant am...

Re: Max GPU w/o bottlenecking on Intel H57 (PCIe 2 16x)
I've got two cards on an old TA75M motherboard and A8-3870K CPU (PCIe 2 x16): GTX 1650 and RTX 2060. They return ~1.7M PPD total so they are definitely not running to full potential. I don't believe that it's the PCIe that's slowing things, as PCIe reports max 60% utilization. The startup/finish and...

Although I fold on linux and haven't tried your program, this seems like a great idea.

Re: 16926 - Some sort of loops with this CPU WU
You should see less of these issues if you change your system from requesting CPU:5 or multiples of 5. I will pass on the problem to the researcher, a setting on the server may be missing that would avoid use of 5 and its multiples. CPU settings of 4, 6 or 9 should be okay. There is also a bug in t...

Seeing the same thing on two separate Ubuntu 20.04 machines:
16926 (4, 746, 4)
16926 (87, 735, 6)

Re: P106-90 on old FM1 socket mobo
I ran a single 1650 on an old FM1 mobo (a75 chipset, PCI-E 2.0x16), A6-3650, and linux for a few weeks and it ran pretty well. Only a little slower than in a modern x570 4.0 slot, averaging 268k vs 306k PPD. So like 10%-15% slower. Didn't try two GPUs on that mobo.

Re: FahCore returned: CORE_OUTDATED (110 = 0x6e)
I had a similar issue last night. I've got a dual GPU system, and one GPU updated and kept right on folding but the other got hung on "Updating" for a while. In advanced control I tried "Pause" and then "Fold" on that slot and it immediately started the WU and has been ...
