Re: Successes of F@H
We are like the unsung heroes of war. Working behind the scenes for the greater good helping out however we can. Just we new guys who most of us probably never even heard of FAH before this Cov19 had hit the world... mucho's respect/admiration to all the guys who have been into folding for years and...

Re: New to FAH, my setup, not sure if its worth upgrading
Except that the OP is limited by the power his PSU can provide - he cannot run his CPU and both GPUs at full load for any significant amount of time. Also, while you may be thinking about point count, some of us think about usability of the computer for other needed tasks. Sometimes Folding just do...

Re: The worst software I have ever seen.
I think its alright. I've been somewhat of a amateur-nerd with online computing and gaming for 21 years now. To be honest though, especially considering because of this corona virus recently I would've thought that some super rich company like Apple, Google or whoever would get behind this project a...

Re: New to FAH, my setup, not sure if its worth upgrading
There are quite many CPU projects currently in beta/advanced phase. Your CPU will do good if it gets to work on them once they are in the regular pool. I enlisted to beta myself to help speed up getting those projects available to all users without needing to do any special tricks with the client. ...

Re: It's getting better now, isn't it?
I woke up this morning, looked at my PC to find that my GPU slot had been waiting for over an hour for the server to give it a job, so I hit the pause-fold buttons to then find within a minute it was given a job. I'm currently off work for another 1.5 weeks and kind of sat at my PC most of the day s...

Re: New to FAH, my setup, not sure if its worth upgrading
I've just now caved. I've bought an additional 2080 Ti, now waiting for it to be delivered probably on Friday. *Deep breaths* that was a LOT of money just for this new hobby FAH. Will use it dedicated to only FAH as no game right now really fully uses even a single 2080 Ti. I have a spare PCIe 3-slo...

Thats what I get when using Chrome.
Just right-click on the FAH icon in your windows bar and select advanced mode, it brings up the dedicated FAH window.
Firefox seems to be working ok for me but I barely ever use it.

Re: I want to participate in FAH COVID-19 project (not othe
The same thought had crossed my mind as well. But ultimately, lets just hope our scientists allocate these resources as and when they think is best for everyone. To be fair though, your PC might end up curing all forms of cancer, and you'll never ever know it was your PC or even be paid a penny from...

Re: New to FAH, my setup, not sure if its worth upgrading
Another option is to delete the CPU Folding slot when you get a second GPU, so you don't have the high CPU overhead as well. Relatively speaking, the GPU generates a LOT more work (i.e., points) than the CPU, so it is a much better use of your electricity. Your CPU TDP is 165 Watts, so your power c...

Re: New to FAH, my setup, not sure if its worth upgrading
Two GPUs will work, and with 10 cores on the CPU you can afford one to feed each GPU leaving 8 (a good number, unlike 10 which g=has a factor 5 and can cause issues). The only difficulty I can see is that you only have 300W headroom, which may limit the size of the second GPU. AFAIK F@H doesn't use...

Re: Client doesn't start work
Click on the pause tab wait 2-3 seconds then unpause (fold), it resets the server auto request timer to less than 90 seconds or so. I've noticed if you don't do that at least every so often then that timer can go on for over an hour before it requests for a new WU download. I'm a proper noob at this...

Re: Many gpu's available to me, what to choose?
I'm brand new to all this FAH. I've been learning all about this stuff recently. I've got a 2080 Ti, and after seeing its chart comparisons to other GPU's I'm amazed how awesome it is vs other GPU's, its an absolute beast of beasts for this or what! Earlier I was reading this new-ish thread: "E...

Re: Still can’t get new work units
I've had FAH running for a few days now, getting used to it learning how it works. Total noob still obviously. I've got my CPU and GPU enabled for doing WU's. In the advanced window, when either CPU/GPU is listed as Ready, if the reset timer is more than 2 or 3 minutes I just right click on it to pa...

New to FAH, my setup, not sure if its worth upgrading
Hi all, I'm new to all this FAH having only recently heard about it first from PCMR on Facebook and then days later I saw Linus's video on it on Youtube. I've been running the program on my PC for a few days now, been learning more into it more a bit here and a bit there. I'm contemplating whether t...
