Re: Won't start folding [Failed to Read Stream]
As long as your browser can open those sites, it's not a router problem ... it's security inside your PC. Do you have a second security software running? I have only windows defender. In answer to other question, I do have an "as needed" proxy (it only re-routes certain sites, like Netfli...

Re: Won't start folding [Failed to Read Stream]
Thanks a lot btw, I know it isn't anything in your control. I am open to any ideas, but feel like I just can't help (for whatever reason).

Re: Won't start folding [Failed to Read Stream]
Every one of those links I can see the protein, but I continue to get nowhere on work. Frustrating - I want to participate, but it seems I won't be able to do so. *********************** Log Started 2015-09-10T14:59:38Z *********************** 14:59:38:************************* Folding@home Client *...

Re: Won't start folding [Failed to Read Stream]
Thanks 7im! My router is a Sitecom X4 N300 using Telecom Italia DSL internet (12 Mbps download speed, 1 Mbps upload speed). The PC is typically connected to router via wireless connection and Speedtest.net tells me I get 11.0-11.5 Mbps speed with that. I currently connected a Cat 5 cable and I get 1...

Failed to read stream
Mod - Merged with original topic I tried getting an answer on the newcomers forum, but no luck. I suspect the same people hang out here, so I doubt I will solve my problem but figured I would ask just in case (no offense meant to anybody who tried to help me before). I installed the software withou...

Anybody have thoughts on how I can configure my router to let me get to the websites? I am still not folding.

Re: Won't start folding
The assign2.Stanford.edu website said their was a certificate error but when I clicked on the "continue this anyway" I got a picture of a protein and "Assignment Server version 3.5.7" That's what your browser SHOULD get. Unfortunately FAHClient doesn't give you the option to &qu...

Re: Won't start folding
Another possibility: I've seen a report of a problem with the security certificate on one or more of Stanford's server. (It has already been reported to Stanford.) If Windows Defender blocks the site without telling you about the problem, that could be what's happening. I expect it won't take them ...

Re: Won't start folding
Welcome to the folding support forum. Generally, messages such as "Failed to read stream" and "Received short response, expected 272 bytes, got 0" point to the folding client being blocked by either a firewall or anti-malware software. The FAHClient process needs to have the sam...

Won't start folding [Failed to Read Stream]
I am new to this and nothing is happening. I suspect it is because my computer is not reaching the server, but I don't know what to do. Any help is much appreciated! *********************** Log Started 2015-08-30T19:42:34Z *********************** 19:42:34:************************* Folding@home Clien...
