Thank you.Neil-B wrote:Windows has a intermittent black screen issue so it may not actually be a FaH issue as such just that FaH triggers/exacerbates a windows issue

Re: intermittent black screen
If you've been out for a while, there's a reasonable chance that your hardware has accumulated more dust than it needs in the cooling passages. (Zero is good  ) Consider a careful internal cleaning of passages where air is supposed to cool things down. Yah, it was just the software tools to mo...

Re: intermittent black screen
Thanks,
A reaction to overheating is not ruled out. I had been out of the f@h game for a while and was rusty on the tools such as MSI Afterburner to program the GPU fan curve. I am using higher GPU fan speeds and it is keeping the GPU about 15 C cooler.
Probably helpful

Re: intermittent black screen
If you're able to provide more information about which PROJ, RUN, CLONE, GENs this occurs with and which GPU(s), as well as whether the core was running in OpenCL or CUDA mode, that would be super helpful in tracking down the offending kernel(s)! ~ John Chodera // MSKCC I'm not sure if this is exac...

Re: intermittent black screen
Cool. 3 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (support x16/x0/x4, x8/x8/x4 modes) https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-Z390-GAMING-PRO-CARBON/Specification I have the 2070 in the top silver slot and the 650 in the next silver slot. It's probably in x8/x8/x4 mode. I have a USB controller in the last slot. I actually do...

Re: intermittent black screen
I see, the cmd window is essentially the log window in advanced view. I haven't seen the crashes since the last one above. Well here is my log. I saw a few of the screen black-outs in this session. One around 04:22:03, and 04:30:01 for example. Yes, it looks like it is using CUDA. ******************...

Re: intermittent black screen
Oh, great. I started folding with the command prompt open to see what is going on. I'll watch for the monitor black-out and see if I can make a correlation with the line that is in the command prompt at the time. I'll let you know if I see it again.

Re: intermittent black screen
The screen flickers when folding on the 2070 which is the primary adapter connected to the monitor. It flickers if that is the only client that it is folding on too. I also have another CUDA program that causes the flicker of the screen intermittently. I haven't tested the 650 or CPU alone yet. I di...

Re: intermittent black screen
Hey, thanks for the support folks! What must be happening here is the ubiquitous Windows TDR from the nvlddmkm.sys module. I learned that CUDA programs will often do this for example. I found a few things that can be done to improve the experience. Disable TDR via regedit. "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\S...

Occurs off and on while folding client is active 7.6.13. nVidia driver 456.55. Has anyone else noticed that? I have briefly stress tested the CPU and GPUs a...

Have you tried exiting the FAHClient?
