Re: New GTX 1080 Ti folds as misdetected GTX 980 Ti
My GTX 1080 Ti now wears a Aquacomputer Kryographics. Result: cool, quit and very efficiently, great OC. Tom's Hardware just ran an article doing the exact same thing! http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-1080-ti-water-cooling,4975.html They were able to run at 2.1 Ghz and super low temp...

It was off topic to the hardware discussion, and there are several other threads where you could post or read that talk about conserving power, or ... He was not upset ... Probably CA power prices Right, right, and right. Oh I just saw that you live in So Cal too. Prices here are rough, but I suppo...

Re: Open Air Dedicated Folder and Guide
Here in CA it gets up to $0.30/kWh in the summer and ... We could get into a long off-topic discussion about that  but let's not. It won't help anybody. Well I'm not interested in arguing at all if that's your concern, but I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Are you upset at my comme...

Re: Comparison of current GPUs PPD/watt and PPD/price
Hi foldy, Just for an update, the 1080 is down to $499 MSRP now. This should bump it's PPD/price up to 1.7, which is tied for the highest PPD/price. It's definitely looking like a much better 'value' proposition for folding now. That's assuming a 1080 averages 860,000 PPD. I just bought a couple of...

Re: Are the 'default' F@H settings optimal for CPU+GPU?
The default settings for the client use the Medium setting for desktops and Light for laptops. The Medium setting reserves one core for your own computer usage, you can move the slider to Full if you want to have it be used for folding. That depends. There are a multitude of different system config...

Are the 'default' F@H settings optimal for CPU+GPU?
While I'm not technically new to the folding world, I have been out of the game for a while. I have recently downloaded the newest Windows client. My question is if the client automatically selects the best number of CPU threads or if I should set a custom value. I have a 6600K (4 cores, 4 threads) ...

Re: Open Air Dedicated Folder and Guide
I'm late to this thread but I have to ask, is power super cheap where you live? Or perhaps you are in a cold climate? Here in CA it gets up to $0.30/kWh in the summer and pulling 900 W from the wall plus the extra AC load due to the generated heat, well, I don't think it would be very possible here.

Holy crap, 20K PPD on a 7950? I have a 7850 and I get 7K PPD per day. I do have the last driver in the '12' series. Maybe that's it?

Re: folding eletricity
I think a good idea would be to 'retire' old folding machines, AKA ones that have a low GFLOPS/watt ratio. I had a 1.9 GHz Athlon XP running folding, but I gave it up because the points weren't worth the power draw....
