Getting assigned to 0.0.0.0 means that there are no projects available for you hardware or client configuration. This can also be a server issue though. If you're running big wu's or advanced methods, try running without them or if you're not, try enabling those flags/options that will usually work out pretty good. If it doesn't, it's probably an issue with the assignment server and the PG's guys will have to fix it ( eg, nothing you can do but report and wait ).

Please give us the details of your current client. Which OS? Which client? Which settings for BigWU and/or for -advmethods?

Server 130.49.240.81 is for the classic client, Windows or Linux, Port 8080 only, not advmethods. It currently has no WUs to be assigned (waiting for somebody to return a result so it can build the next assignment).

Client version 4 has very few servers that can support it, so you're going to continue to get this sort of condition more frequently than if you are able to upgrade to a newer client.

The server status page (see the link at the top of this page) has a several columns that collectively indicate it's out of work. The simplest is the blue flag in the %_Ass and/or the %_Ass_80 columns. Almost as simple is a very small number (generally in bold) in the WUs_AVAIL column.

The V6 client installs itself in \program files and it puts the data files in %APPDATA% (which happens to be hidden).

Install v6 BUT DO NOT START IT.
Compare the START_IN field of the two shortcuts.
Stop the old client
Copy the following files from the old installation directory to the V6 start directory:
  • queue.dat
    client.cfg
    the entire WORK directory.
Start the new client.

It has been a long time since I did this, but I believe this will preserve everything you want. If it doesn't, you can stop the new client and switch back to the old one since nothing has changed there. Report back.
