Hello ashrc4, welcome to the forum.
You have several choices, depending on whether you will be folding 24/7 or not. The most product choices are the SMP client and GPU client, both of which can be run on your system. However, these clients have work units with short deadlines and typically need to be run 24/7.
The CPU client has work units with longer deadlines, and work well folding part time, or shared full time.
My suggestion would be to start with a single CPU client, console or GUI, and run that for a few days or weeks to become familiar with the client. After that, we can either add 1-3 more CPU clients to fully use your quad core processor. And later, we can upgrade to the SMP or GPU client if you want.
Nothing wrong with either choice. Depends on your computer, experience, and how much time you can contributed.
