I assume that you are aware of this.

Just making sure. :)

Thanks.

They may not know. I'll see if I can raise anybody. It's after midnight.

What the heck is a guy (almost) close to my age doing up at this hour? :)

(I seem to recall that you're not in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. It's 4:45 AM here) :?

As for me, after a short nap, I am baby-sitting my 12 Quads (a bunch of dualies too) - all of which will be sending completed work up over the next 5 to 7 hours.

I may leave them idle rather than accepting the work that the "dumb" AS2 is dishing out to the Quads.

My wife will appreciate the temporary reduction in heat and energy costs. :D

Good luck and thanks Bruce.

John

The server status shows that the AS it up, but it doesn't do its job :

Code: Select all

[10:54:25] + Attempting to get work packet
[10:54:25] - Will indicate memory of 497 MB
[10:54:25] - Connecting to assignment server
[10:54:25] Connecting to http://assign.stanford.edu:8080/
[10:57:34] - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
[10:57:34] + Could not connect to Assignment Server
[10:57:34] Connecting to http://assign2.stanford.edu:80/
[10:57:35] Posted data.
[10:57:35] Initial: 0000; + No appropriate work server was available; will try again in a bit.
[10:57:35] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[10:57:35] - Attempt #14 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.
I don't know why there is a 3 minutes timeout with assign.stanford.edu ...

Yeah, there are BigWU's available, but they take too long for me so I'll be switching off as units finish until this is sorted.

Hey toTWO,

You're a lot smarter than that (observed frequently, BTW). :D

Check out the time of the last update on the server stats page that you just looked at.
The data there is worthless at this stage. :( <---sad, not mad

This will sort out once our friends on the West Coast of the U.S. wake up....he, i.e. me, murmurs hopefully.

Fold on!

John

You're right ... I didn't check the update time

It'll be 6am at Stanford in 1h15 ... someone will fix it as soon as he arrives at the lab.

Yes, thanks for the heads up. The whole machine appears to be down, so we will need to reboot it when we get to the lab. It looks like it's time to start moving some of these functions to a new machine, since this is now happening a bit too frequently for me.

May I suggest that you kill vspg6-vz7 in the process (if that is "assign2").

Based on what I have seen with twelve machines sending and seeking new assignments, vspg6-vz7 (or whichever one it is) is not even aware of all of the SMP servers.

You, Dr. Pande, have MUCH more important work to do than to attend to these types of issues.

I do think that your taking the time, at such an early hour, to post in this thread is quite commendable (and not at all atypical).

I can probably speak for your entire "volunteer community" in saying "thank you".

Another A+ for community relations! (I bet that you're a tough "grader")

P.S. Meanwhile, we plan on taking up a collection to purchase a clock set to PST for toTOW...who has absolutely no reason to be embarassed. :)

Is the OP server an SMP assignment server?
Just curious because I got home from work (3rd Shift) and all my GPU clients have been sending and receiving all night.
I'm in the middle of 3 SMP's so they weren't affected and chugging away. Whew!

Seems the Update Server is hosed too:
Stats update in progress
update started at Tue Feb 10 05:00:03 UTC 2009 (Mon Feb 9 21:00:03 PST 2009)
As of now, it's 10:15 EST, 15:15 UTC, and 07:15 PST.

Maybe a partial power failure in the data center?

Thank you, Dr. Pande, for all you and your team do, along with the gang of miscreants here on the boards.

Save you money, there is a better way ;) Check the forum header now .. a convenient clock showing the time in Stanford.

All I see is "Stanford time:", nothing after that.

Edit: Weird, after hitting the submit button to enter this post, that page had the time. Then when returned to this page the time was gone again. :?

2nd edit: The time appears on the board index page, but still not on this page. :?

Some of the javascript needs cleaning up so that it updates reliably.
