Tax credits for "donations" ? [WUs = No, Cash = Yes]

Is there any possibility the project could issues tax credit receipts for "charitable" donations of computer time? It would be a way of getting businesses to justify the costs of running fah 24/7 and could really boost business participation and even add motivation for some home users. It wouldn't have to be much I'd think. and receipts could just be mass emailed once a year.

Value is another question. maybe as little as 10,000 points per dollar, I don't know.

Would it mess up other funding you get from your government?

The issue has been asked for several years, usually a few weeks before April each year. The general concensus is that it's not possible to deduct donated work units from your taxes. You didn't actually donate anything of value. And no tax lawyer that folds has yet explained how to do it if it is possible.

No, it's not going to mess up any other funding. Search the forum for past discussions.

However, you can donate funds directly to Stanford, direct them to the fah project, and deduct the funds from your taxes, at least in the US (sorry, not sure how it works elsewhere). Click the donate button on the project page for more info.
