Closing the Client Down

Hello Folks,

I have a query. Occasionally, my systray client does not put the little red cog icon in my system tray. When this occurs what is the best way to properly shut down the client? The program is running, I just cannot access the menu options available via the icon.

Your suggestions welcomed.

I'm confused. The "little reg cog icon" is part of the 5.03 GUI client. The systray client is v6.xx which has a multicolored icon.

The disappearing icon was a problem in V5 but it has been fixed in V6. Which one are you running?

Hello Bruce

I am running V5.03, from what I have read on these forums, it is not essential to use the latest version, therefore I have not installed it.

Is there an option via the start menu in the next verion to shut the program down? There is no such option in V5.03.

The shutdown option is on the context menu (Rt-Click) on the systray icon in both versions.

When your desktop (explorer) has a serious error and shuts down it gets restarted. After the desktop restarts, even though the client is still running, it's the client's responsibility to add it's icon into the new copy of systray. V5.03 doesn't do that but V6 does, as I said before.

If you can avoid crashing your desktop, the "little red cog" will stay in systray. Other than those options, there's not much I can offer you.

Hello Bruce

Thank you for the information, that's exactly what I wanted to know. I try very hard to avoid crashing the desktop but "stuff happens" occassionally.
