I am constantly getting this error. The WU has been downloaded but the core fails to download. This has been going on since a few days now. What are your thoughts?

Try using cloudflare DNS, try not to use wi fi

I have sent a message to have that server checked. But also check to see if your anti-malware software is blocking the download of the executable. Some by default will do that for connections over HTTP by applications other than known browsers.

I had the same problem four days ago. Started up an old Folding box I had not used in a while. Running version 7.6.21. Same issue. Would not download core 27. Same error message as seen in the OP.
My solution (though I was not happy about it), was to install Folding version 8.4 on top of the non-working 7.6.21 client. That worked - and the box is Folding.

That tower is still on WiFi and still using the default DNS servers. So I have to assume it's an issue at http://cores.foldingathome.org:80.

Same pb with an old Ubuntu :

And in wget :

Garsh, wanted to get back into FAH for a while, but have this error. Diehard fan of the old Advanced Control client; hate web clients.

Seems there's no fix quite yet.
