Since a few days I keep getting errors after completing a GPU-WU on my laptop (Win11).
I'm not getting a new WU assigned.
'Been GPU crunching for nearly a year on this device, and never had a problem before.

Last night after uploading, I got the first message. The programm kept retrying to get a new GPU WU.
Went on for hours so I powered down.
Today at start of F&H the same error occurred. But after an hour I suddenly got a new WU, so I dismissed
all as a temporary glitch.

Just now the same keeps appearing.
It says DNS lookup failed, and HTTP service unavailable. And it keeps re-itterating the same info.
Is this something serverside related? Why is this suddenly happening?
Nothing changed on my side on the laptop.... Am open to suggestions, as in: please help

After I typed this posting, the programm finally started with a GPU-WU.
But am still posting this, because imho this shouldn't have happened. And maybe it happens again

"No Appropriate Assignment" means that there is no work available for your particular system configuration. This can be caused by a work unit shortage for your particular hardware.

What's not to get? I wrote that there is shortage of WUs right now.
Next post was your stating that you have similar problem. I thought you didn't read the comments before you, so I linked to my post, which explains what is the issue

I simply supported Peter, in stating that I had the same problem.
If one person or many have the same problem, it's a different situation.
Instaead of replying sarcastically with a no link link, saying nothing or simply ackoliging me would have been better.
Or, your original response to Peter could have providing a better explanation that would not have led me to support the original post.

The log files provide just enough information sometimes to generate more interrogations. This combined with empirical experience to question the validity of a "shortshr of WUs" as a valid answer. The 3 times I noticed the problem, I rebooted my computer and immediately got a WU, leading me to question the validity of the "shortage" answer.

I'l stop now, ,I don't want to start ranting.

There are some existing bugs in the v8 client where changes to configuration won't actually apply until the client is restarted, so sometimes you can get stuck in an assign wait loop until you restart the client.

Thanks all for your replies.
I see I'm not the only one having these logs. That's reassuring for me.
I'll also try the restarting tip and see if that works with me in case it happens again.

I really want to contribute to Folding (and before that to medical research from World Community Grid), because
I've lost many friends and family to cancer (and partly Alzheimer). So whenever the programm isn't running I'm frantically trying to remedy that
