Hi all,

I am getting used the folding client but I'm just looking for clarification if a WU is incomplete and expires? I have one that's stuck at 70% saying "paused" (Unpausing just starts new WUs) but it has also expired, will I ever be able to complete it? Should it be avoided outright letting this happen? I now use the pause when finished which I just found today so it will avoid this going forward

What happens to the WU for the person who is requesting the folding when this happens? I am trying to be as efficient without causing issues on the other end.

If the WU expires, then there's no point in continuing to fold it. An identical WU will have been sent out to someone else because the server can't tell the difference between you abandoning the WU and you just not completing it in time.

You should always avoid letting it expire.

If you are using Windows, before you reboot windows, make sure you pause all your folding on that PC. Then restart the PC.
Linux has no issue there.

Okay that's good to hear, at least it will be finished!

Yeah I know that now, having learnt to hit to fold until finished in the web control page, rather than pausing in the taskbar and forgetting. Thanks for clearing that up, I can fold now with ease!

Im on windows, I dont restart often but some programs will force it with updates so that is a super nugget of info, does it cause corruption or loss of the data?

Unfortunate!

No corruption, just client downloads new WUs while dumping old one.
That is due to windows being super aggressive in shutting things down
