Correctly Choosing Projects

TWIMC,
I have recently re-activated my FAH activities. I am using the new client 8.4.9 and it is NOT OBVIOUS how to choose the project that my compute resources are going to support.

Please help me understand how to SPECIFY a specific Project so when my higher electric bill comes in, I know that the compute effort is going toward something in my little world of helping others. Random assignments to random projects dont give me warm fuzzys.

Like Project 12421 targeting Influenza. I can LOOK UP what it is about... but I cant ASSIGN resources to go toward THAT project. The 8.4.9 client, under the ACCOUNT | Cause drop down menu can select influenza but the runs on different machines are listed as "not specified".

Thank you in advance for the help,
CSSNet867

Click on your account icon in V8 webview and there is an option for selecting a cause.
Keep in mind it is preference and not guarantee

You can't choose individual projects. They are assigned to you. All you can do is tell the assignment server your preferences (as muziqaz says), but you can't tell it that you want 12421 specifically. If there are no suitable projects that match your preferences and hardware, you'll be assigned to a different project.

As far as I know there is no way to reject an assignment. Once your client makes a request to an assignment server and the assignment server responds with an assignment, your client is expected to download and process the corresponding work unit.

Thank you both.

Your answers seem consistant with my observations. I remember folding a lot during the COVID19 and I chose COVID19.
I dont ever "reject" an assignment. I definitely will "finish" anything that is started.

It would be nice to have a timed start funtionc on the "foldall" button.... Like a timed start at 03:00am.

I don't know what operating system you're running, but all three major ones that FAH officially supports have ways to schedule the starting and stopping of services. The FAH client does not need to incorporate that feature itself (although you're right that it would be nice).
