How to stop auto start with computer restart
I have 7.6.21 Web junk as gone as far as I can make it gone . At one time you had to start the app and could start each folding slot .Now I can find no way to stop auto start and auto start WUs . It would not bug me but it just started a 11 hour wu on my main GPU that I game on . I really do not want to start dumping WUs but will if I can not find a way to stop auto start . I mean widows update makes you restart your computer and result is the gpu I had paused is now running a 11 hour wu I got raid in 3 hours . I would run newer app if there was no web control worst thing ever added to fha app .

Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
I heard a rumour that updating to the latest fahclient fixes that issue

Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
It all so gives you no way to get rid of web control . If the only option is to have web control I will delete folding at home , I tried to use older apps but they did not work with win 11 . I have tried the newer apps there is no way to turn off web control at all , Web control still shows in my hidden icons but its not popping open my browser when I open the app or restarting computer for Windows updates .

It is your choice to hate on web control. But it is here to stay. v8 web control is as functional as v7, and more, it would be silly to disregard it just because it is web UI
Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
Using the option pause-on-start with a value of true might help.

Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
Note, pause-on-start is v7 only
Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
That just stops the gpu but not the app opening with windows . I just found out about the option pause-on-start with a value of true or false today . Its not like its in the open even with slots page open you need to click a gpu then click edit . Well think this could be mute I fold for EVGA and as of last night there web site is read only so I could be done , But thanks Bollix47 you where some help other poster was a troll . Calxalot v7 will not work on Win 11 or I could not get it to I have it on my Win 7 comp..

Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
The client is launched at login via a shortcut in a startup directory. I don’t know enough about Windows to say where that is.
Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
Right click your folding at home icon on your desktop and select properties. Look at the target line. If it looks like:
"C:\Program Files\FAHClient\HideConsole.exe" "C:\Program Files\FAHClient\FAHClient.exe" --open-web-control
Change it to look like:
"C:\Program Files\FAHClient\HideConsole.exe" "C:\Program Files\FAHClient\FAHClient.exe"
Also, you may need to find the start up program loads and make the same change.

I don’t think the desktop shortcut is linked to the login item shortcut.

Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
There may be two shortcuts. One all-users, and one current-user.
Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
On win11 the startup directory should be at 1 of the following:
To manage autostart programs in Windows, you can use the Startup folder. This folder contains shortcuts to programs that will run automatically when you log in. There are two main locations for the Startup folder:
Personal User Path: This is specific to the current user. Path: C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup Shortcut: Press Windows+R, type shell:startup, and press Enter.
All Users Path: This applies to all users on the computer. Path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp Shortcut: Press Windows+R, type shell:common startup, and press Enter^1^.
To answer your original question .... Removing the shortcut that is in the startup folder will stop the auto start .... you will have to start it manually using the desktop icon.

Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
Bollix47 there is no FHA in Apps startup . Seen no way in property's to stop auto start . I am giving up not going to take the chance of messing win11 up it gets that way by itself . Think I will just delete FHA from my Win 11 desktop . Thanks for the info I looked but all ready got more time into this then I wanted to spend . Once more thanks .

Re: How to stop auto start with computer restart
Isn't there an option upon installation to tick if you want things to start with Windows or not?
V8 is super light weight as a standalone process. Even v7 doesn't use any CPU or much of the RAM? If the pc has win 11, it probably has 16GB of RAM as minimum, and a modern CPU. Both, RAM and CPU wouldn't notice fahclient sitting in the background.
Task Manager of Win11 takes more CPU time and RAM than v7 and v8 combined

Always hate to see a folder leave
https://www.google.com/search?q=where+a ... e&ie=UTF-8
Using the task manager method click on the down arrow to the left of hide console .... it should show a dropdown which includes FAHCLIENT
OR
type startup apps in the search box (win 11 task bar) and press enter
At this point I'm just trying to find where you are starting FAH .... stopping it's startup may be more difficult or may be as easy as disabling the hide console entry on that page and rebooting
