My company is trying to encourage employees to volunteer their time for charity. They have set a goal of 1,000,000 hours of time donated to non-profits. We are asked to log our time into a tool so they can track how many hours have been donated.

Could the time I spend managing my PCs to fold legitimately be considered volunteer work? I don't get anything for logging the hours - there no money or other reward involved. But I do spend some time managing PCs just for folding.

And is there a non-profit organization associated with FAH? I can only count time associated with non-profits.

FAH is associated to Stanford University.

We had a similar request from a student with a time-to-charity requirement for his class. He wanted to count the time the computers were processing, not the time he actually spent. I'd sure like you to receive credit for FAH with your employer, but you may need a second project to get the minimum number of hours.

Bruce, I don't have a minimum number of hours. I'm not trying to log the time my computers are working. I'm trying to log the time I spend managing them.

Stanford is a non-profit (official 5013c).
